    Hi everyone,

I'm very excited - the kit to knit a Hanne Falkenburg mermaid jacket has arrived, I can't wait to get started. It was pricey but a lot less than buying one made up I should think. Hopefully I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of knitting it as well.

I've also been reading a book about eating less which is giving me lots of food for thought (so to speak). I won't say too much because one of the things she says in the book is not to talk too much about what you are doing.

No meeting tonight so I am going to tackle some more of the kitchen cupboards and of course start knitting.

Maitane, I see you live in Bangor - I went to Uni there back in the dark ages and met DH there as well, happy days. Then DS and his GF also went to Uni there so we were able to visit. My DH has a very annoying habit of talking about any little change that takes place in a town so it got quite painful. When we go back to his childhood home he drives me wild with all his bemoaning of how the place has become built up and that its not the same as when he was young (40 years ago I might add).

    Have a good day everyone.

Maitane give him egg and chips he should think himself lucky that you are cooking him a meal and he is not even a relation!

Lol. Well Butterfly, he would love egg and chips with mushy peas! He adores simple, solid food. He's actually my ex-father in law. My housemate is my ex - just to confuse matters. So I'm super fond of the guy and since he lost his wife, he comes to visit one day a week - I just didn't expect it to be today hence the panic on what to cook.
Plus he very generously gave me £25 for my birthday yesterday which is the equivalent of two weeks grocery money, I'm getting OS obsessed. :rotfl:

Thanks Elona, shepards pie sounds quite good with the awful weather.

Snoozer, I went to Bangor University too and I bemoan every little change in Bangor now I live in Bethesda. Although I am quite chuffed we have a Debenhams and a Waitrose in Menai Bridge now. I'm jigging around my food budget as we speak so I can buy my meat from there as I prefer it and the welfare standards are higher than Tesco Value.

Just in case you don't have relatives up here, from the summer I'm going to start doing the whole Crashpadder thing when I've done up my spare room.
Not a blatent plug, honest. :D

Hello all. Yet again I've been missing for a few days, so no idea whats been going on. Hugs for anyone in need.

Have had new foster cat a week now, and he has settled in really well. First 2 days were a bit stressful, but things a lot calmer now, and all 4 cats are generally ignoring each other! He has also found the cat flap, so quite a clever boy. RSPCA are coming tomorrow to take some pics of him and put him on their website to see if anyone wants to. He is an oldie (16) but doesn't seem that old. He has now taken to sleeping with DD all night on her bed, so there will be a few tears if he does find another home!

Other than that just been busy with work, was there all weekend hence not getting on here properly. Never mind, 2 days in this week, then off for nearly 3 weeks at Easter. :T

The weather has turned a bit pants hasn't it? At least it is only wet here and no snow, you have my sympathies if its snowy down your way!

Red ruby - ceiling job sounds a nightmare!

Right, off to catch up on some other threads now whilst I have time (DD is out playing in the rain and DS is on a school trip, and all cats are asleep!).

Redruby - in our first house they had put artex on the ceiling in the kitchen (which was the length of the house so pretty big area). When we put in central heating it started to dry out properly and came unstuck in parts from the ceiling. So we decided to scrape it off. Took a whole day to remove around one square metre and the rest was stuck fast  Ended up plastering over the whole ceiling again. Like yours previous owners were codgers - they even wallpapered over a vent in the bedroom

Seems to be a bit of a theme, everyone I have spoken to has stories of how bad their houses were, seems people think they know what they are doing but dont really, I washed and washed the ceiling today, got most of the powder off, will give it another go at the weekend, I know 6 hours is a long time, but I want to get it right first time, and not have to keep doing it, stubborn b***er I am :D I have also mastered the caulk gun, will be an expert by the time we have finished the house :rotfl:

I also made a veggie quiche with jacket spuds and beans for tea, a meat lasagne and 4 veggie lasagne's.

Jackie, i have heard nothing from B & Q despite sending 2 e-mails, I sent a letter to the CEO last friday, so waiting to see if I get a reply from that

I caught a little mouse on my bird feeder earlier, cheeky little thing, have put some photos on my facebook if you want a look.

    Have good evenings all x

Redruby - I can top the stories, our house was built in 1988 and yet we had to have it completely rewired when we moved in 5 years ago. The electrician told me over the phone a house that new wouldn't need it but he soon changed his mind when he came here and saw how it had been bodged over the years. Cost us a fortune. We are still only half way though redecoration (on hold at the moment). It has cost us more than our last house which hadn't changed since the 1930's when it was built.

Anyway I really shouldn't be on here, still have loads of paperwork to get through :(

    Evening All
Today I have made a veggie lasagne, done a load of washing, gone for a lovely long walk narrowly missing the rain, gone swimming, kept the kitchen tidy and made a small jam sponge which disappeared as soon asthe kids came home from school :rotfl:

Poor poorly doggy is in not himself at all today and has mainly been lying on my bed feeling sorry for himself :( I've been waiting on him hand and foot and making sure he stays hydrated.

I've made some biscuit mix into a sausage shape, wrapped in cling film and put in the fridge ready for slicing them off to bake ;). They are oat and raisin ones but DD1 is going on about making easter biscuits so it looks like we're going to make some more after she's done her homework . I also need to make some cup cakes for a school cake bake tomorrow and might as well do a tray bake to slice and freeze while I'm at it

On the flying front, I've not done as much as I should have so am going to blitz it when the kids are in bed. There are a couple of hotspots that need desperate attention :o one being the fruit bowl that has turned into a dumping ground ... the other being a big box of photo's that need to be put in albums.

:grouphug: to everyone who wants/needs one and hope everyone gets a good nights sleep.

    Luv J x
