OS Daily Thread - Tuesday 30th March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 30th March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif Morning lovely OS-ers!
Nesssie and jet - good to see you posting with us!
Halight - So nice to see you and hear all about the twins. Don't stay away so long this time, we always miss your posts.
Taplady - our half price joint from Sainsburys that we cooked on Sunday was 2.3 kg so we have a lot of pork to eat though have, of course, frozen some!! But gosh it was lovely and the crackling was allllllllll mine.yum.gif I think if I could only eat one type of animal for the rest of my life it would be a pig!yum.gif
Stroppyjock - Had to look up Montrose on the map but at least I know where you are now!
TopsyTurvey - I do hope your mum is Ok and that she is out of hospital soon.
JackieO - You obviously needed the extra sleep hon.
Beemuzed - I too love the Spider. 97 is my best score but I usually average about 103/4. It's so addictive.
elona - that catalogue sale sounds amazingly good value, what good bargain hunting.
Meanmarie - looking forward to having you back more regularly.
Flutterby and JackieG - I too am a proud Gleek! God its good!! Have been playing the two CDs since about week two I think. Fab. HERE is the final song they sang for Mr S. together with the lovely kiss at the end.
Sliced up the huge gammon joint yesterday and froze it into meal sized portions either for sandwiches or cooking with. Have 8 generous meals worth if not more in there.
I now have more frogspawn to hatch out - the first lot came from a friends pond that was just covered in the stuff but the last few days a couple of frogs have obviously fallen in love and taken their relationship to another level :rotfl: as we have two large blobs in the tiny pond. So I have another dollop in a second bowl on the sideboard.
Goodness me, I just read that paragraph back and all I can say is WOW I need to get a life. :rotfl: Please make the weather and my health better so I can spend some time in the garden or go out in the car or SOMETHING...giggle.gifgiggle.gif

HShungry.gif Breakfast will be tea and toast. Lunch will be toasted HB bread sandwiches filled with ham (from the gammon joint we cooked) and mustard relish. Dinner is pork curry with basmati rice.
Hope you all have a good day. With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

    Morning all,

Wet wet wet here its pouring with rain :(, and cold.

Yesterday It took me 6 hours to get the paint off of dd's ceiling, we had only put it on the day before, but the whole lot had to come down, as the bloke who lived here before had not sanded down the plaster he put up, and as soon as we put it up it started peeling. So today I have to wash the ceiling down to remove the old destemper and then sand it, am getting fed up putting his mistakes right

Did my shopping online last night, This week I ordered the 1/2 price beef :T, which should do us a good few meals. This morning I need to make up a lasagne, will make a large meat one and several veggis ones, and freeze the extra, might do a couple of quiches too, dinner tonight might be quiche jacket spud and salad.

Hoovered right through yesterday, and had a general clean and tidy through. So not too bad in here.

    Have good days all xx

    :hello:Good Morning Everyone.

Halight, Diva and Essex Girl  hello to you 3.

You will all be glad to hear I am in a much better mood this morning.:o It is stil persisting down here though, so the weeding, feeding and tidy up of the front garden will have to wait another day or two. WM is on, floors swept and I'm now enjoying a cuppa and a natter with my friends, life is good this morning. W*rk as usual today, my bad mood translated into a carp day there too, so I am aiming for bigger and better today.

Dog borstal was much better last night, there were fewer dogs to distract my wee pet, and she was quite a bit calmer, as was I. I managed to keep her focussed most of the night, and she was following some simple commands, which she does at home, but to manage it there was a feat in itself, and I was so proud of her!:T She doesn't like the fact that the clocks have gone forward though and that, coupled with the rain, meant she refused to go for a walk with OH and she is now back in her bed fast asleep! I'll need to try and persuade her to at least go out the back before I leave.

Don't know what's for dinner tonight. DS1 is out to a friends, I think, so am not sure how many I am cooking for. I fancy spag bol, so might make that when I come home. I need to do bread, and it's my turn for the cakes at work tomorrow, so I'm making more of those nutritionally balanced lemon muffins!

I hope you all have a fantastic day, whatever it brings. Have a hug if you need one.

ETA Morning redruby, what's the latest with Botch and Quiver? did they reply yet?

It's snowing again. Heavily. Shouldn't land though because of the rain, but they're pretty big flakes. Grrrrr:mad:

    Raining here again!!

Need to go to town today to collect some bedding from Tesco in the sale. The new mattress is thicker and the fitted sheets won't fit, looked for deeper ones but they are v. expensive, so settled on flat sheets, and both Tesco and Sainsburys had some in what was left of their sales, greatly reduced, and the Sainsburys delivery together with some nice wine glasses also in the sale arrived yesterday, very pleased with them. Also want some nice sausages & FR eggs from the market for the weekend in the 'van. The snow won't stop us, but high winds might! May have to take the ingredients for making the sausages into Toad in the Hole as the weather does not look good for BBQing.

Eventually had the chicken chausseur last night and it was v. nice. I have some liver out for me for tonight, DH will probably have some of the sausage.

Tried to give blood but my iron count is not good enough to donate, OK for me but not to donate, second time in a row now, so think my donating days may be over. Dr checked my blood in Jan and it was OK, and due for a second blood test result today. If I remember to ring up at 8am for an appointment.

Lashing down here too this morning - only have to go to the doctors this morning and can then 'cabin up' for the day if needs be.

I have the most horrendous pain in my back - under my ribs on the right hand side. I'm thinking muscle but blimey it's sore! Smothered it in ibro gel when I got out of bed but just had to take 2 co-codemol as it was hurting just sitting in the chair! Don't like taking painkillers as I need to feel pain to know when to stop...otherwise I end up doing all sorts and being twice as bad the next day!

    Pop back later
