Morning All ,
Wet and chilly here today - am wrapped back up in my winter woolies!
Had a minor irritation yesterday. Some of you may remember that my eldest SD passed her driving test a couple of weeks back and has been going on and on about getting a car (whilst she had no money to contribute to it, or even a job to pay for petrol...) and lo and behold, we hear that her mother has bought her one. So DH gets a call yesterday from his ex saying where's the £1000 that SD said you're paying towards the car?:mad::mad: At no point did DH say that he was going to pay ANYTHING towards her having a car because he thinks it's an unecessary extravagance (sp?) and teaches her nothing about money. He was intending however, once she'd saved up and bought her own car, to buy her a tank of petrol and perhaps some girly accessories - certainly not £1000 worth. So now obviously he feels awful, because the ex laid in on really thick about how he left, so the least he could do is help her out with the car etc etc. I'm not sure who's lying, whether it's SD saying that her Dad would pay, or the ex saying that SD said her Dad would pay. And DH feels even worse, because SD1 shows all signs of turning out just like her mother.
Anyway, on to other OS things - dark wash today, and spaghetti bolognese for tea tonight.
Have a nice day all, hugs xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

morning all!
damp here but no rain yet! am off to work later till 10pm so not much OS here today.
Washing is in machine - will be hung indoors. House clean and tidy and bed has been changed.
Tea for DH and DS2 is salt and vinegar battered fish (on offer in Morrisons and delicious) and chips - mine is HM cheese and potato pie at work(not sure whats on the menu there so thought I'd play it safe)
Am aching this morning after painting the ceiling in the lounge and have also started the one is DS1s room - want to freshen it up before he comes home.
Didn't get my car done yesterday as the mechanic had some emergency call-outs so it will have to wait till Thirsday now on my next day off.
Mum heard yesterday that her car has been written off after a collision last week - she was fine, a retired policeman fainted at the wheel and hit her. The trouble is she wont get enough off the insurance for a similar car:mad: so wrong to be penalised when its not your fault.
Diva - enjoy your pork:D;)
Redruby - bad luck with the ceiling, I hate painting them. Am strill hard at the decorating myself after a break of about a week.
(((hugs))) to those in need
take care all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning, all. Things aren't going so well here this morning. After feeling ten times better yesterday, I have had a rubbish night's sleep and DH is telling me to go to the Doctor's today. To which I've readily agreed as I feel as bad through coughing as I do about keeping DH awake.
So, I'll give the Docs a ring in a little while and get an appointment - which also means not going in to work
All plans for today have been changed as we were due to go to Mum's tonight, which won't happen now. Not sure what I'll do for tea tonight as Mum was going to cook, but I'm sure I'll think of something quick and easy.
I don't really know what the weather is doing here right now. It isn't raining but looks like it might at any minute. I certainly couldn't handle snow, and it does feel colder!
Manuel the Basil Plant has perked up nicely since I got him home. I then realised that DH has cunningly named a few other of my kitchen gadgets - bless him! So far we have Brenda the Blender and Massimo the Tassimo! It makes me smile.
Have a good day, everyone. (((hugs))) to those that need one. Could do with one meself.

Morning OS ettes,
It's torrential here in the SE. Looking on the radar it'll pass soon though.
Boiled some sheets & towel in washing soda yesterday..I found a large jam making pot in a jumble sale & it's great for stove top boils. They've come out really clean & fresh.
Bunny is still hunkered down indoors in one of her 'nests'. It's too wet to put her out yet. Today I'll type up some of my graveyard inscriptions & this afternoon visit Mum in the Nursing Home.
Stay warm & relaxed everyone, especially those feeling not great. Feet up & a good ol' cuppa should help.

.....DH gets a call yesterday from his ex saying where's the £1000 that SD said you're paying towards the car? ...... I'm not sure who's lying, whether it's SD saying that her Dad would pay, or the ex saying that SD said her Dad would pay....
Is DH able to wait until he sees his daughter and asking her face-to-face why her mother seems to think he is contributing £1k to the cost of her car and where that idea has come from? Maybe then he will be able to suss out whose suggestion it was.0 -
Good Morning Chums, another wet and windy day here in north Kent.I am off to Bluewater today with my DD to buy some shoes for my holiday in a couple of weeks time.I have a £20 voucher left for M&S from Christmas so I shall have a look in there first and probably put some cash towards them.I must have comfortable ones though as we shall be doing a bit of walking if the weather is kind .not miles, but more of meandering here and there.
We will probably get lunch out as a treat and I must try not to buy too much in John Lewis ,my favourite store.Hope everyone has a good day and I'll be back later I expect
take care all

:hello: Good morning!
Went to the dentist yesterday. She had a "night guard" made for me because I often clench my teeth in my sleep, and one of my jaw joints had become inflamed. I've been using it for about 8 weeks, and it's helped, but not as much as I'd hoped. So she now says I need to use it for another 6 weeks and in the meantime I have to avoid chewy foods. So, no muesli, multiseeded bread, apples, meat.......I think I'll have to live on porridge and cottage pie
And apples are so useful when I get a bit peckish long before dinnertime
If I'm still having problems after the 6 weeks she will have a different style of guard made which would bring my lower jaw forward to help the area heal properly. I dread to think how much that will cost
Oh well, just have to wait and see.
I made a "to-do list" when I was away, inspired by a book I'd read. 2 weeks after getting home I realise I haven't done any of the things on it! Mind you, one of them was to declutter the table so that it can actually be used for sewing and eating, and it is "getting there" very gradually!
DIVA - The New Zealand native frogs don't hatch out until they are already froglets, isn't that strange? BTW, I've never watched Glee (though I did look at your link and enjoyed it, but not DH's cup of tea at all) but there was a piece in the paper yesterday about how popular it is here, and a picture of the choir from my old school (Dunfermline High) - apparently since Glee has been on, the school choir has grown from 15 members to 25 and the choir master is planning to make it into a "show choir". Funny to think their choir was much bigger in my day - and we weren't even singing "fun" things!
redruby What a pain about the ceiling
jackieO -Good luck with the shoe hunt! I m ay be over there myself later so I'll keep an eye out for you.
kitchenbunny (((HUGS))) to you (but very gentle ones so they won't make you cough.) Hope you manage to get an appointment.
halight - lovely to see you posting again -and jet77
jayward Thinking of you x
(((HUGS))) for everyone who's ill, worried or unhappy.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Floss - you can bet your life he'll be having that conversation with SD!
Slightly o/t does anyone know where I can find out about upcoming rail strikes? DH and I are about to book to go to Whitby on the 1st of May, (by rail of course) and don't want to pay out for the trains and accomodation if there's going to be another strike. Any ideas chaps?

Morning peeps
Redruby......I so know what you are going through hun - the people who had our house had made so many c*ck ups it was untrue,
The wiring was lethal and we had to pay for a full rewire the plumbing had to be totally redone - all the paintwork was Battleship grey
The kitchen had to be gutted
We also had to pay to get builders in to check on the safety of the wall the previous owners knocked out - we were still finding problems after two years - it was a real nightmare and very expensive to put right
Jackieglasgow........I am so glad coco is starting to settle into class - I love hearing about her progress x
lowsey......The nerve of some people!!!!!!!! If SD is over 18 he no longer has to pay for anything
taplady.....maybe your mum could take out a civil case against the other driver
jc .......(((((((((((hugs))))))))))) as if you need more carp in your life right now x
stroppyjock...........Now what is they say about men and timing? :rotfl::rotfl:
Grey, wet, cold miserable day here today yuk !
DH has just been to the dentist so I think the pie that I planned tonight is off the menu he has had 2 fillings so something soft and mushy I think.
DD is going down to see her Grandee and Grandaa today and wants to bake something to take with her......fine as long as she cleans up after her I have just finished spring cleaning it!
Didn't get very far on the curtains last night - my eyes gave out after half an hour so that is something I can do today.
Well I am off to give DH a bit off sympathy - well ok - teasing cos he always takes the mick when I have a filling :rotfl:
I will try and pop back later Keep warm and take care all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

hi lowesy, the only strike dates given so far are 06,07,08,09 April, they wont release further dates 'til they see what effect these strikes have. If you book your tickets and there is a strike you will get a refund, or more likely there will be alternate transport laid on, ie buses.
Hope this helps,0
