  • Yesterday was a good one - wen't back over my budget ( again!) and good job i did because somehow I'd managed to forget about my child benefit - so my budget is actually a lot better than I'd thought it was yesterday!

Planning another NSD today by staying in and doing housework - although saying that I'm going to a wedding tonight and as of yet on't have a penny to spend - I've got a lift there and back but still not sure how I'm going to get a drink, maybe I'll have to have tap water all night!

  • feeling so much more positive, I have a load of little plastic boxes with various labels on such as "kids lunches" and "work clothes", I know it seems a bit obsessive but i can actually see what the moneys for which is great.

Should be a NSD today although I can never be sure.

Wen't down to the allotment yesterday for the first time and months - trying to get it prepared for the winter so i can start a fresh in march.

Also managed to pay a chunk off of my HSBC overdraft and actually have it back under the overdraft limit!! Yay!!

  • Hey Cuckoo,

Just looked over your posts and can't believe how well you're doing. It's really amazing and you've inspired me to try and save harder.

BTW, the Citizens Advice is definitely the best place to go to see about DLA. Hope you get what you need.

I know it can feel like that, but when you look back and see how far you've come it's really amazing. If you hadn't started you would have been left with at least £6,000 more debt that you have now. Keep going!!!!!

  • Thankyou guys, you're great!!

I've had a bit of a rocky few days as we came away on holiday to wales. (It was free as we are staying at my dad's) but you know what it's like when you've got kids - you really wanna treat them and make it special so hopefully be able to recoup some of the many when I get back.

Thankyou so much for the encouragement - it actually really helps to know that people are reading.

On a positive note, I got a voucher out of the paper for £5 off a £40 spend at morrisons and £5 off some cat flea stuff which I need so thats good.

    Take care guys, Cuckoo. xx

  • CCL just wanted to say your amazing and are doing so well, i think when you are trying to become debt free you do have down days where you think why am i bothering and more upbeat days when you won't be beaten. You have come so far and are doing so well, remember you will get there.
  • Hi CCL, Debt is just another thing to add to your stresses, for me it is a vicious circle. I spend when I'm depressed then get depressed about lack of money :( However, unlike other parts of my life, I can control spending money (even though it's hard;)) and for me that's important as part of my illness means I need to be in control and I hate changes to my plans etc!!
Enough of my self-analysing ;) what I'm trying to say is that you are fabulous!! You are doing really well and on good days I hope you know that!! :)
