Not a good start to the month for me, yesterday I saw my mum and bought her some belated mothers day flowers and some paper for our printer so my son can complete school projects, I consider these to be essentials so they don't count but I treated myself to couple of bunches of daffodils......not a big spend but not an essential spend either, which is what I'm trying to stop doing. Tonight were taking our son out for a meal as it was his birthday on Tuesday, do I or don't I count this as a NSD?, not sure.....Hopefully I should have a couple of NSD this weekend, will post Monday.

Happy Easter to all my lovely April Challengers, eat lots of chocolate eggs and hot cross buns!!!!! :EasterBun:easter:

I'm a first-time NSD'er and not sure whether to count the cost of my DS's karate lessons (£3 a time, Tuesdays & Thursdays) as a spend. If I don't, I had my first NSD yesterday, yay me, but I don't want to cheat - advice please??

I would like to go for 20 again this month!
Thanks to NSD's I have got into the habit of really thinking about what I buy and if it is really worth having a spend day or can it wait... often it waits and then when I do have an opportunity to spend I no longer really really want the item!

I try to stick to 2 spend days a week and then each of them is limited also. This challenge does drive my other half round the bend sometimes but he has seen the benefits with the savings we are able to achieve and the future we are aiming to have...

Good Luck to everyone on the challenge this month - it wont be easy with school holidays and Easter but if you walk out of a shop and actively think about the purchase it does become a whole lot easier to organise!
Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

    Hi to everyone else..
Well done for any NSDs not reported yet, look forward to reading about them over the coming days.

I'm intending to keep the front page updated on this thread with number of NSDs everyone's got so far, just thought it might be good for everyone to see how all the others are doing? Let me know what you think - good or bad idea. If no one's keen then I'll drop the idea - this is a democracy, after all :).

No NSD for me today unfortunately, but will definitely have one tomorrow :).

To anyone not around over Easter, hope you have a lovely holiday and don't eat too much chocolate..

I like the running total idea Solvent, thats if you can keep track of everyone?! Cant believe how many people are on here now :j
I got my first one yesterday, am hoping for another today as I'm at work all day (Bank Holiday - whats one of those?!) and dont need any groceries. Also bottled 30 bottles of homebrew wine last night - they're staring at me from the living room floor, going to have to move them into the garage or things could get messy round here!

Good luck everyone, and enjoy your Easter weekend xxx

PS: has anyone heard from BigMummaF? Hope she's OK!
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....
  • Hi dealwithdebtdot, commiserations, no NSD for me either:(. Your spending was much more exciting than mine though - which festival are you going to?:) Good luck for the rest of the weekend.

    Hi spoon,

Thanks, Saturday and Sunday should be frugal! Festival, I am going to write it small, because it is a small festival, that is a bit of a secret...Shambala, I like it small. But then I already have my tickets, and there is only so many, so its not gonna get any bigger!

    Happy Good Friday everyone. :icotbaske

    Morning all!
It definitely won't be a NSD for me today - have to buy OH an Easter Egg and I'm going out tonight with the girls for a meal and drinks. I will try to keep it as low as possible though!
Good luck to everyone else though!

Hoping for a NSD today as yesterday was a bit of a disaster. I had to drive into London so had to pay the Congestion Charge and met a couple of friends for lunch (but had a special voucher so lunch was cheaper than expected). With my MSE hat on I was cheeky and used my old work place (worked there 6 years ago!!) car park for free rather than paying £15 to park in London. A smile sure does go a long way with the security guards! I did however catch the tube one stop each way rather than walking - lazy, I know! I'll have to make up for that over the weekend with several NSDs. Happy Easter everyone.
