I'm exactly the same Happy, want everything done yesterday but then once it's done I regret spending money on it! There has to be a middle ground somewhere, all this going around in my head constantly its no wonder I hardly get anything done!!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840

Feeling exactly the same, all that goes through my mind at mo is money, debts, money, debts....it never changes.
Like you say true, there has to be a middle ground somewhere??
Happy, if the house is making you miserable perhaps you can do some of the DIY stuff or make a start in preparing? Would that help you feel a tad better?
I think because all of our debts are so high (total) it's hard to see an end in sight and that's sometimes the hardest part

I know I want it done because in September I've committed to doing a uni course for 2 years part time and well it don't like the idea of having the house look like this for 2 years nor do I like the idea of doing course work in a house tat quite obviously need some diy tidying up , I'm turning an open area back into two seperate rooms one a box room one the living room it's ground floor flat of a two storey house. But doing it for more of a selling perspective and adequte space, at the same time though I'm worried about the apr on the home owner loan I don't want it to shoot through the roof with increased payments that make it harder to sort out. That's bot till 2012. I reckon 6k on the house so that's a good 6 month of my basic pays wasted on house diy stuff but what I don't want is the mess during my studying time it would make me feel truly stressed beyond repair tbh I don't know what to do I wish I could move out come back when it's all done so I don't have to fadd around in itI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. Happy - is there anything that you can do just to tidy it up a bit? Slap some magnolia on the walls and then go back to polishing it up when you have a bit more time and money? I know its boring, but my whole house is magnolia atm, got a massive tub of it for about £15 just because I needed to get it back to blank canvas. Is OH any good at the DIY? Could you both take a week off and really crack on?
Choccy - I think you hit the nail on the head with the huge total, its like this enormous shadow that won't fade no matter how hard you try!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
So much for getting on with things today....still haven't moved from the sofa unless its to put the kettle on!!
Its the tidying/diying the house, getting sorted thing thats got me thinking. I may have magnolia walls, but I've got more clutter than I could shake a stick at and it is literally all over the house. Books, photo frames with no pictures in, toys, games, pens, boxes - just so much stuff!! I have this image in my head of this very zen, clutter free, peaceful environment and I keep trying to get there, but my motivation lasts about as long as it took me to write that sentence because even though I've decided what I want to do, thats the point where I start thinking about cost and the spiral starts.
I totally get your frustration Happy, I really do!!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
We'll get there in the end guys!
Happy perhaps you can temporarily sort out the area that you are intending to do up eventually and like True said paint, clean up etc - that may make it a happier environment and then perhaps once you know what is happening with the loan you can then make a decision?
True - could you not make a start on the de-cluttering and perhaps that we'll make things more 'zen' like for you at the mo?
It's so depressing sometimes isn't it, the one thing holding us back is the one thing that we can't really magic away or deal with quickly - grrr :mad:0 -
Isn't it amazing how so many of us are all in the same situation at any one given time? I wonder if its got something to do with the moon
My attempts to de-clutter are pretty good, instead of having it all over the house, its in two big piles - ebay and car boot :rotfl:
I think my main issue is organisation, as in I'm completely dis-organised. If I can make that better then I'm sure the rest will fall into place eventually!Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -

Organised - is that even a word!?! Good luck with that one!
Same here, I think if I took time to be organised life would be whole lot more simple and things wouldn't get on top of me.....however i've never been good at it.....perhaps that can be my next aim :rotfl:
Oh and I like the moon scenario - do you think we could get away with blaming it.....:p xx0 -
Will add organisation to the daydream list and blame lunar positioning for the lack of it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840

Haha yes if only we could blame the moon, i feel like we are a tug of war... true im like that i get ideas that cost then i go full steam ahead and then come back to reality and question if i should start or wait and pay more on debts..... its the knowing the thinking the way it gets you by the purse strings and makes you feel like screaming all the walls down lol .... i was saying t o oh yesterday why cant credit cards have a strict rate of 10% why do they need to be so greedy why cant they help us help them the sooner we pay back the better they would be.... etc etc why cant people help people .... i can grin and just deal with it and moan about it on here and just be sensible and pay debts .... the thing is debts eat alot of energy diy thoughts eat alot of energy studying eats alot of energy so all 3 at once makes me drained down and depressed and so im stuck lol xI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES.
