Chasing daydreams....

I've been thinking about keeping a diary on here for a while, and I've been trying to keep myself on the straight and narrow, but after a blow out weekend, leaving me with a hangover and only 80p in the bank I think I need some help!
My husband and I have nearly £35,000 worth of debt. No excuses. We've enjoyed life. We want to continue enjoying life but we also want to shift this debt. I have been working with the CAB to set up a DMP which I will then manage myself. At the moment, I am sending token payments. Our estimated DFD is sometime 2016/2017, which isn't acceptable to us!
Wonderful DH has just secured a new job which he starts next week which will net him a £5k payrise (:j) and I have just got back into work, after nearly 2 years out, in the local chip shop. Its not much, but it fits around school hours, it gets me out of the house and I enjoy it! I do realise that earning £5.85 an hour is not going to bring our DFD much closer, but its the most I can do right now.
We married in November last year, a true DFW wedding, costing less than £1,000. This November, we would like to celebrate our first wedding anniversary somehow - big party or a holiday or similar so we need to save for that. We also want to have a baby, sooner rather than later, and we want to move house. We have dreams, who doesn't?
So this diary is about chasing those daydreams - clearing the debt, buying the house and having the baby....wish us luck!!

Hello true27!
You could be me way back in the spring of 2008. We started out with a smidgen over £39K debt. A few months after that I started work at an equally dire wage but it did make a difference. A pretty huge one in fact because we were already used to surviving on OHs wage my wage was surplus and was used to cover our debt repayments. Its not been easy but we won't be far from being debt free by this Christmas. Keeping a diary has been an integral part of this as having it all in black and white has made me be totally honest with myself although it took me another year to realise this.
Good luck! Its not the easiest journey in the world but it is is achievable.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
:hello: Hi Moo!
Wow, you're going to have an awesome Christmas!!
I'm hoping putting things in black and white is going to force me to be a lot more realistic and honest. I'm 30 in just over 18 months time and I would love to have the debt gone by then so we can have the baby and the house with a clean slate!
Off to have a read of your diary now for some inspiration! Thanks xxPaddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
