Seems like a good idea to me...

People will have more in their paypackets which gets the thumbs up from me :jIt would appear from the article that the additional 1% would be scrapped for basic rate taxpayers but still be applicable for higher rate.

In order to close the deficit, they really need to start looking at ways to reduce the benefits bill (Perhaps a child related cap or limit on tax credits)

Let me guess - you arent low paid with children - am I right or am I right?

At least one good thing - here was poor naive me reading this forum getting scared stiff of the country collapsing into chaos under the weight of government debt. If Osborne can spend the time moving 1% of income around and making a song & dance about it things can't be that bad.

Why? is that because you run a business icon7.gif

LOL - I act for plenty who have over the years built up a nice business and paid their taxes whilst building -it would highly inequitable if they had to then pay the same chunk of CGT on selling that as someone who bought some shares and got lucky that they went up in value? :)

That's the trouble with the young - you can't teach them anything.

It's irrelevant that the comparison Thatcher - , it may be that VAT is a better one to increase, it may be that we should concentrate on reducing employers NI with 2.5 million unemployed, it may be that Labour will increase the tax burden by more than the tories.

The point is that people who think that "efficiency savings" are going to cure the deficit are either very dense or deluded. The Tories plans lack any credibility at all.

I think you are confused. It is Labour saying that effciency savings are going to cut the deficit. The Torys are saying cuts are needed like axing ID cards, the connect point database, etc.

Yes i know..i hear what your saying.

Truth is,joe and joelaa public need to realise that all of us who are economically active, rely on the capitalist system to keep us all afloat.

If we accept that, then who is the better captain for the the good ship capitalism?

A Tory multi millionaire schooled in economics and politics who leads a party which promotes the best interests of the country, drives effort, work, reward or

do you want socialist pretenders....who are often equally as wealthy as Mr Cameron, who enjoy nice lifestyles that you,I or the rest of us could only dream of,and yet seek to make the rest of British society (outside of their own front doors) "fairer" by taking money off those who are economically active and giving it to those who are not.

    Its as simple as that.

Vote for YOUR own personal interests. I know it sounds terribly selfish and all that but there will always be victims. Just make sure it isnt you and yours.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Oh..by the way, Labour will introduce very shortly a 50p per month line rental tax on your phone line.

They want to be "fair" you see.

They want everyone to have broadband and computers.

I imagine some will make good use of it by pirating/surfing !!!!!! or engaging in other dubious activities whilst sat smoking or playing the x box.

Mind you,the contention ration will be good for them as the rest of us will be out at work during the day.

Conservatives...well they will axe this stupid tax

I think he means the fiscal mess the country is in - anyone with an iota of intelligence can see the Gordon Brown as the Chancellor then Prime Minister is responsible for that. Spending all of the increased tax revenues and borrowing money on top during an economic boom on expanding the public sector produces disastrous results if that boom ever ends.
    Agreed.

This is all the more amazing given that every organisation should run a risk department, to evaluate changing conditions and have planned responses to those.

I think that the Torys will keep all of Labours indirect tax increases and there are more coming, Car Tax will be the biggy for most people it will rise sunstantially especially for the less well off announced last year comes in after the election.

They will use the above to fund the cuts in corporation and small business tax cuts they have said they will implement and use cuts to get the deficit down innitially and then use growth to accelerate the reduction.

    :)

Repeat after me .... Big State / Small State.

We can't afford big state any more, and it's questionable we ever wanted it.

I'll live with the consequences of not having access to a 'Diversity officer', thank you very much.

I shall just count the extra pennies in my pocket instead.
