Why are fuel bills so complicated? or is it me being dim? I swopped from Npower to Eon and was in credit with Npower - phoned to try to claim it and they have offered a better price to come back - but the prices are so difficult to interpret and compare - haven't done anything - but the guy is phoning me at 2 to see if I want to go ahead with it and I have no idea which is the better option! It's driving me nuts!!!0

have you got the figures Judi? per KWH
your annaul usage + the unit costs for each supplier + any discounts they are offering and i will try and helpDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
Gonzo the problem is I acn't find an anual usage figure in KWH - I think the gas usage last year was 18155KWH and elec was 2054KWH but can't work out what is estimated and what is actual
- the Eon tariff is:
Gas - 7.41p for first 2680 KWH and 3.06 for the rest
Elec - 20.04 for forst 500 KWH and 10.92 for rest
with 6% discount for DD payment
and 2% discount for duel fuel
- Npower tariff
£128 annual charge for gas and £22 annual charge for elec
Gas - 2.58 per KWH
Elec - 10.31 per KWH
£100 DD discount at the end of a year
I can't make sense of it all now!0 -

Hmmm.....I think I'll go a bit more into the low-carb side....sounds like it might work more effectively if I cut out more....except for my cereal in the morning and my rice cakes at lunch...nomnomnom
Pooks, is this what she did at school?** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

i think the problem is the fact the npower one is a standing charge whereas the eon one has no standing charge
to try and make it a little simpler i will try and convert the eon to standing charge
- the Eon tariff is:
Gas - £117 annual charge 3.06 per KWH
Elec - £45 annual charge 10.92 per KWH
with 6% discount for DD payment
and 2% discount for duel fuel
- Npower tariff
Gas - £128 annual charge and 2.58 per KWH
Elec - £22 annual charge 10.31 per KWH
£100 DD discount at the end of a year
so going on these prices and your annaul figures
gas eon 672 npower 596
elec eon 269 npower 233
so annual
eon = 672+269 = 941 discount 8% = 865
npower = 596+233=829 discount -100 = 729
these are rough figures however it would appear npower would be cheaper, this being said it doesnt appear you are looking at the online tarriff which are the best ones to go for!Drop a brand challenge

Thanks Gonzo - the Npower one is an online tarriff - I'm not sure about the Eon - so I am marginally better off with Npower then! That means I have just changed to Eon for nothing and will need to change back - I know I don't actually have to do anything but I hate the thought of paying more than I need! this site has got me like this! it really annoys me if I don't get the best deal! I think I am possibly about £250 in credit with Npower - they have said they will calculate the amount and credit my bank - so that will be a nice windfall - won't happen til May though.0
