    Afternoon all.

Very quiet in here today, I'm feeling poorly :( so day off school and been sitting on my bum for the last hour, house is a tip so I think it's about time I attempted something constructive.

Not going to overdo it as I dont want the dizzyness to return.

Gonzo - it seems to me that your OH has a rather large mountain to climb in order to face up to her debt, I wouldnt recommend taking the debt on yourself, just help and support her in the climb.

hugs to everyone who wants/needs them.

I'll be back in a bit when I've tidied up a bit, gonna tackle the kitchen first i think.

    xxxxxxx

I'm at the Fleetwater B&B, the course finished about 4.30pm, so plenty of time to mooch about.

is that on Longfleet Rd? If so, use the Shah as it's about 50m away. Fine for someone eating alone as it's a hotel as much as a pub. There's an Indian outside the college (there's a row of shops next to the clock tower) as well as a turkish restaurant next door to it. The row of shops is nearly all food - chippy, subway, chinese takeaway if you wanted something in the b+b. there's also a little Spar for any snacks and a daytime cafe if you need lunch.

If it's a nice evening, Poole park is also just there and you can get chips and watch the ducks :D

I feel a bit sick. I discovered I like Reese's peanut butter cups. They sell them in the One Stop opposite work. I don't like peanut butter though! Well, I say I don't, I tried it as a kid once and thought it very nutty (don't like nuts -well, not the nutty kind ;) ), but am now wondering - does peanut butter taste like Reece's peanut butter cups? Or is it not as sweet?

LBMs are hard gonzo and you've got some really solid advice already. I'd only add trying to budget bills then split remainder in half and she has that for debts and spending. If it doesnt leave anything then thats something she'll have to learn to live with.

Depends on the type - you can get smooth and crunchy. What exactly do you mean by it being "very nutty"?

just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has posted something in regards to my dilemma,, its nice to know that i am not the paranoid control freak that it sometimes feels like i am being.

i think i am going to hold off doing anything for a little while and let our chat at the weekend sink in a little bit with my wife and try and approach the finances again this coming weekend to see if it has made her re-think our current situation

maybe try and get her to phone barcleycard and ask them for a change in interest rate as i believe they do a 6.9% life of balance card for existing customers to try and get it transfered over to that as at least then we would be paying less interest

yes it is not market leading but if it gives her a feeling of control and keeping her 'independance' (even thou i do fully understand the plastic fairy wand comment) i suppose it might help her keep within budget
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

Chin up! She will eventually get it. It seems it requires her hitting a few brick walls along the way. But that needs to be done, and wrapping her up in cotton wool will just postpone it.
