Thanks for the offer Mumof2, but I don't think BB would take kindly to another dog (unless, perhaps, it was a puppy).

Beef out the freezer and defrosting in the MW. NN phoned and bath booked for about 6pm. I feel I shall be having an early night!

It's OK Soappie - I was only joking! I'd miss my lil girl (even though she eats chicken poo, rolls in fox poo and pinched a roast chicken joint from the worktop not too long ago - oh and don't forget the £320 chocolate egg vets bill). See what you're missing ;)

Just going to do lasagne for tea; only time I did it before was a disaster, so fingers crossed this works. Then got to get DD ready for Beavers, DS ready for bed, do ironing and another typing job.

ETA: Welcome Mrs Polkadot - we haven't met before I don't think!
Thifty and 1step closer - blimey, you've been busy!

Actually, joking aside - it's something that's worried me for years; I tried so hard during my twenties to think myself into wanting kids, but I never managed to. I simply don't have a maternal bone in me, and have to accept that I simply don't do kids. I'll look after any animal you care to put my way, but if someone asked me to babysit, I'd run a mile. What the heck is wrong with me??:(

Hi LameWolf I know how you feel although I may be younger than you. I have never had an interest in having kids and whenever the conversation comes up people look at me and think I am insane, that I am put on this planet for one thing (yes that has actually been said to me!). I am just in my thirties and although I know I am still quite young my OH is quite a bit older than me. I used to think there was so much pressure if we ever wanted a familyof our own to do it sooner because of that but I am quite lucky, I don't want them and he has 2 boys from his marriage.

I do really well with my niece but just don't want my own. There is nothing wrong with you at all x

I'm afraid the news from Sandy isn't good. I'm not sure what it is, as she hasn't been clear, but I suspect that she's not ready to put it in writing yet.
And those who just generally don't look after their health through bad eating/exercise habits, try to motivate yourselves to prioritise it, as you never know what's around the corner.
Thank you for keeping us up to date greenbee, even if it was not what we wanted to hear.
My love and thoughts are with sandy and her family.
Perhaps it is as well that we do not know what is ahead, but maybe we should not assume that there will always be time to do all the things we think we will do 'some day' IYSWIM.

Feel really sorry for the poor girl who lost her life in the scottish school bus crash. How many people are going to wish that trip was cancelled due to the weather.
One parent I heard did decide not to let her son go having driven home last night and realised how bad the roads were.
I suspect they assumed it would be OK once they got on to the main road.
  • Hi Polkadot

There is an anniversary thread somewhere (clueless about adding the link, sorry!:() but what I do/did is start following the flylady lists with the 15 mins de-cluttering ideas. Then, as I work such long hours and am shattered by the weekend, I decided to just aim for a couple of stars a week and as I knew I would be off this week, decided to have a mammoth clear out. Now the kitchen and living room is fairly respectable by my standards (I have very high standards, far too much of a perfectionist) and decided to tackle the rooms I keep putting off first.

So upstairs is just about done, I will do the kitchn tomorrow and the living room/hall on Friday. My rule of thumb is if I haven't looked at it/worn it/read it/used it for 6 months then out it goes. Comes from having lived with services parents who moved a lot so I had to be ruthless! Hubby says I can pack a house in a day..........hmm!

anyway start with the one area that really annoys you first, devote 45 mins to it and just..................clear it!

Didnt help this week that OH decided to work from home and has got right under my feet!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:

    Hope that helps

Absolutely right! Nothing wrong at all.

I have never been maternal. Never had any interest in babies. I used to get comments from people as well....

Mind you, somehow or other that changed and DH & I now have 3 boys - although we did it the easy way & adopted :D That means we had no nappies, :eek:sleepness nights, nappies, prams, nappies, ..... ours came clean, dressed and able to feed themselves :D...mind you, they also came able to speak back & argue their point (rather well,at times). We became a family 4 years ago last week when the boys were 5, 6 & 7 and they are now 9, 10 & 11 and I couldn't imagine life without them (or remember how our life was before they descended ).

They are funny, loving and bright (eldest at grammer school, 2nd hopefully about to follow)......am I bragging? ooops sorry..:o ... scuttles off scolding herself.....

  • That is wonderful you adopted!

I have never had any maternal instincts or yearnings to have mini-mes running around but give me a puppy and I'll cooo for hours!

OH has a daughter who will be 17 next month...........................in my mind she is still 3!

Gotta take the hounds out now.........and it is snowing??!! in wales??!!
