i currently send most of my items under the current 32p first class stamp. when the changes happen that 32p will increase to 44p for me (under 100g large letter)
my question is regarding the stamps i use. i have a surplus of 1st class 32p stamps. can i just add a 12p stamp to bring it to 44p or do i have to use the new stamps?
basically can any stamp be used aslong as it is the correct amount thus avoiding these nes 'large' printed stamps0 -

You are lucky, my 32p items don't fit through the gauge easily so I will be paying £1 in future.
In response to your question, if you have just a straight price increase then you can add an extra stamp to the package.

thanks soo. so as before, aslong as you have the correct price on the packet (either new style labelled stamps or regular stamps) there is no need to lump it all the way to the post office & q for eons?0

As long as you know the item is within the size requirements as well as weight requirements you will be fine.

My post office staff have just explained to me that the gauge on the public side of the counter is just for the customer reference to get a rough idea of what the cost will be - the package is properly checked on their gauge at their side of the counter so no amount of squeezing the package through the slot by the customer will count - the staff have to use the gauge themsleves and they certainly won't be shoving them through!0

my PO lady is lovely but she was already being very very firm about not allowing me to help my items through. I will have to have a major rethink as I did have half a plan about squishing all the air out of the plastic mailing sacks just before I put them through the gauge. I had found that the silver mailing sacks expand slightly when they get warm, so I don't stand a chance at all now.

I have a lot of items on a 30 day sale in an eBay shop, I will need to readjust the postage quotes on almost every item to take into account the changes. When would you do this?2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please!

The thing is Soo all your competitors will have to put their post prices up too so yours won't look bad against theirs and if they don't they'll soon realise that their former 49p posting is now £1.00 and change them sharpish0 -
I'm so not looking forward to the 21st August, could Royal Mail have chosen a more random day???!!!
not a happy bunny tho, as most of my 32p items will go up to £1.0 -
