Any Rabbit advice ?

Hi, I only have experience with domesticated bunnies so I'm not sure I can really offer you much advice.
It might be worth seeing if there is a local rescue and contacting them for advice they may have humane traps in order to catch them

They sound like Dutch rabbits from what you have described, and it sounds like they were probably let into the wild by their previous owners

Just an update and thanks to all of you who recommended shopping around and reassured me.
My rabbit had the op last week, it went well though he was a little weak straight afterwards he has recovered well. They called the next day to see how he was and we had a check up two days later and the vet said she was happy with him and the surgery.
He hasn't forgiven me yet though and is a bit grumpy with me - still I can live with that for now.:p
In the end it was £9 for the initial consultation where they also clipped his teeth, £140 for the op (removing all front teeth and also some spurs from the back that she noticed) and some aftercare and £7 for the check up and some eye drops as he picked up a bit of an infection.
Overall under £160, but most of all the care was great and they kept me informed with everything.:T Plus he won't have to go to the vet every month any more or have discomfort as they grow back between visits.0 -
that's fantastic, am very pleased for him and your wallet

What is your bunny fed on?0
-
A handful of dried rabbit food each day, whatever plants he decides to munch on in our garden (he's usually out 1-8 hours a day) and as much hay as he wants. He always picks out his favourite bits of the dried food but I leave the rest until he eats it, which he does eventually.Shoshannah wrote: »What is your bunny fed on?
I know ideally is should be all hay and plants but my previous rabbit lost a lot of weight when we cut out the dried food, and his weight is stable and I want to keep it that way.
He's feeding well since the op, and he is certainly full of energy.:p0 -
Glad to hear he's feeling fine!

His diet sounds pretty good, he obviously has the pick of the plants and lots of hay. If you have a problem with him selecting the best bits of the muesli you could try him on pellets; they don't look as interesting but it means he will be getting all his nutrients without the faff, if you see what I mean!

I'm a big fan of pelletted food, its formulated so all the nutrients are at the right level and doesnt have any dubious items (peas!) in like the musli.
A lot of people recommend hay and veg only but personally I like to feed a little dry food just to keep their weight on and make sure theyre getting a good variety of nutrients

Might have been a better idea to start a fresh thread rather than adding to this thread from 2007. As no doubt people will respond to post from 2007 ! lol.....0 -

They are very good!
I know of a cattery in Hornsey who might take a rabbit - it is part of Dragon Vet Practice.
Good luck x0
