Focus very heavily on advanced manufacturing industries, (space technology, biotechnology, green, specialist). We cannot do cheap goods any more but we can manufacture advanced and specialised goods (in loose terms)

Subsidise BA to help them crush the union and remain a viable business.

Or to expand on Fatballz point, just make it legal for them to sell the trolly dollies to Africa.:D

In fact, ban all unions. Useless socialist self defeating scumbags, the lot of them.

In fact, while I'm at it......

Legalise drugs. Most of them do less harm than tobacco and alcohol, the war on drugs cannot be won, and the best way to reduce drug related crime is to eliminate the criminals from the supply chain. Tax it instead, make it available on prescription for the thieving junkie scumbags, govt gets more revenue, crime plummets, everyone wins.

Legalise prostitution. The only person being exploited is any man stupid enough to pay for what they could normally get for free. (well, dinner and drinks at most) Besides, who are we to tell women what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.

Remove CCTV and Speeding Cameras. They do no good in preventing crime or increasing safety, but are deeply illiberal and authoritarian, and have immense potential for abuse. In the case of Scameras, they are nothing but an odious stealth tax.

  • Drinkers and smokers already subsidise the NHS.

Drinkers pay around 26 billion a year in duty and tax on alcohol, but drinking related diseases only cost the NHS 2 or 3 billion a year. Smokers pay 11 billion a year on duty/tax on tobacco, but smoking related diseases only cost around 2 billion.

Without smokers and drinkers, society would need to find over 20 billion a year. Should we start by raising your taxes?

This is an excellent point, well made. The cost to the NHS of alcohol does not reflect the cost to society, days lost from work etc etc, but alcohol and tobacco taxes are a large contributor to the state and no government has an interest in taxing them too highly as it would force the revenue to dry up. Same goes for fuel.

This adds some further detail to the alcohol tax costs. http://www.ias.org.uk/resources/factsheets/economic_costs_benefits.pdf

If the govt did not get the taxes through these means then where are they supposed to get it from ?

What about CCTV for hospital SCBU (Special Care Baby Units) & childrens wards? I beg to differ, these monitors in my opinion are absolutely necessary. Security personnel are so distracted with scum drug abusers/alcoholics accosting staff & members of the public that they cannot be everywhere at the same time!
  • Ban a***holes from MSE

Anyway can I suggest that they ban any poster from posting here while under the influence of alcohol - sorry 1984 :D
