I di not mean to offend anyone. It just makes me so mad that this person is in such dire need and she cannot get anyone to help her.
We all know of people with less serious problems who have got everything handed to them on a plate.
I cannot bear the thought of this person being on the streets with young children
To be honest it tears me apart.
So again I am sorry if I have offended anyone but somethings just have to said.

    Hi Jessiepig,
I didn't doubt for a moment that you meant any harm using that phrase angel, but I've seen it happen where people who are racist or whatever, jump on the band wagon and it's ugly. Things can go so easily off-topic then and that's the worst thing.
I also didn't mean to offend you or accuse you of this. I can tell from your post that you are a caring and kind person and that it was probably done more out of frustration than anything else.
I'm hoping that it's reassuring to know that in my opinion, you just don't see families sleeping on the pavements - thank God!
The lovely lynzpower also said as much and she works in that sort of field. Believe me, they will help her because they won't want to spend the exorbitant fees of having to home children.
I'm sure there's help for CGS out there but they won't give it to you without a fight and that's what's cruel! A family in need of a home should be given one! I get angry about it too especially when you know parts of your town where houses are just boarded up and empty, waiting to be vandalised.
She's not asking for a palace - she just wants a home!
Sorry folks, my turn to rant:o
But we're here for her - and each other - aren't we guys?!
Hugs to all. Thinking of you CGS.

  • I echo all that's been said before but I don't think CGS has been advised to contact her local Councillor. He/she will know the heads of Housing and Social Services in the Council and is perhaps better placed to help her than her MP.

    Hi all

I hope that CGS sees this , and that she comes back and lets us know shes hanging in there.

I would say, though to all of those outraged by CGS's situation. this is not uncommon and to a great extent its the LAW that prevents housing being given to people who already have somewhere to live. This is to ensure prudent use of resources.

I too was horrified by the system when I first joined up to local government, however, I now understand why it goes the way it goes. Until CGS ( or anyone else for that matter) is homeless the state will not ( and in my opinon) should not provide accomdation until the need is physically there. There is a clause re: reasonableness to occupy that can be used, again Id need some contact from CGS to do so.

I understand that the situation is tremendously stressful, and I have always thought the main reason for this is because a) people dnt understand the system b) councils and government seldom provide info in the way that people can understand, particularly when they are rightfully panicking.

I am a member of one of shelters professional forums, and I happy to gain advice from this arena ( in fact there are a lot of housing people from every LA who are members, you never know who you can get hold of via this means) but I will need CGS to get in touch with me so I can try to resolve this asap.

CGS, PM me if you like, or I can help you via MSN if you prefer and you dont want to speak with me directly. I want to do what I can to support you from one stranger to another :)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
