Hi Everyone,
Just thought I would drop a few lines before the next tiring week starts (sigh)
Thank you so much meerustar for your kind, kind words, they have touched me once again.
I seem to spend my spare time these days crying for myself and this horrid situation, then when I come on here I cry again, but in happiness, as everyone has been so kind, with lovely genuine words, trying to lift me up. I have never had nicer things said to me, than I have by all of you. Thank you, it helps tremedously.
Tiff, I'm so sorry you went through what you did, how awful, I know how you feel and sending you mega-hugs in the hope you might feel a little better. It's not much, but I know how the Council make you feel worthless and scum even if you're not to blame.
I agree I would probably have more luck with Monty Python's Flying Circus (thank you, that made me chuckle for the 1st time in weeks)
I'm in Devon, and the only reason I need to stay here is because my children have only been at this school for 4 months and it's the first school my son has settled into. He's never been in trouble, but is small for his age and gets picked on. My daughter also loves this school, which is much better than the last few they have attended. She has slight hearing problems and they help her immensely, which the other schools did not and expected her just to listen more carefully !!! Having to move around to find private accommodation is almost impossible. Landlords don't like kids !!!! (3 bed house to rent, no kids !!!) and I can't go through an agency for all the debts I have, so I have to look for private and when you only have a matter of weeks, you just have to choose one, that will accept you. But unbelievably, I have already been threatened by the last school that Social Services will be notified if I keep changing them schools as it's not good for their education !!! They think I don't know that !!! I am trying to stay within this area for them more than me. I don't care where I go, I have no family, but this place is the first time my children have been happy in 2 years, with school, neighbours, friends (they finally made some here). Just so sick of being moved around.
I have been feeling, well....not better, but, sort of vacant lately. Like a robot a bit, just trying to get things done. Everything just seems such an uphill struggle and there are days I just want to sleep and give up and say to them.....you've won, I can't take it anymore.
Then I look at my beautiful, good children and that's my motivation.
Again thank you for all your advice and tips and similar stories, I am keeping everything noted.
Thank you again for your touching words, the lump in my throat is worth it to see there are truly nice people on this planet, I just never found them before.
God bless you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxWill my life ever get better for my children ?????
If there is a God, please send an Angel to watch those who are helping me here on MSE :A0 -
I've been watching this thread for a while, how much do you need to raise so you'll not be IH (in their eyes)? Surely, we can all put our thinking caps on and clear that amount, so that your landlady can't use that as an excuse!0

Aw you poor thing. I would agree that it's best for your children to be able to stay in one place. Would it be possible to try to see if the school can persuade the Council to assist you more rather than see the children move again or having to take them into care (which presumably costs the Council a lot of money)?0

Hi CGS & Gang.
I am so sorry for my last post yesterday - I feel really embarrassed.:o
I don't know what got into me. And that was only a fraction of it! Thank you for the big hugs guys.:A
I've come out from under the table, having found my sense of humour again, & I'm ready to carry on the CGS Campaign!
I understand about not wanting to keep moving & concern for the children. I probably shouldn't say this, but based on the fact that the moving around is causing you such hardship, I don't think private renting is the right way to go for obvious reasons - at some point, you'd only have to move again. We need to find you a long term solution.
- How many bedrooms do you have?
- How old are the children and are they male/female? Thinking along the lines that maybe you can get them to pay topup if you are in the 'correct' housing for your family.
Possibilities:
- contact the newspaper again and update them,
- senior housing officer - not the highest - everyone has a boss! Politely demand to speak to her supervisor or if not, the Chief Executive of Housing.Every time someone tells you "No.", you have to go above their heads
- as much as you don't want to I'm sure, go back and demand that house that's going to be filled in 6 weeks. Take a letter from your landlady saying that she is giving you final notice to leave by say 5th September. Take doctor's letter. Take a file with all your notes in & make more notes each time.
-badger them again about a referral to housing association.
-contact welfare rights - they're as good as CAB.
- go to Social Services - Adult - and tell them everything honestly and that you need help and support to get into stable housing as the school are saying that all the moving is detrimental to your children.
- if you're on certain benefits you can get a grant with moving costs, possibly with deposit, furniture,
- reluctantly I know, look in the housing exchanges wanted book for any possibilities. I know people post there who would love to be down in Devon or who need to be nearer family or a new job,
- enlist your neighbours/friends help - would any of them sit with you in/outside the housing office with your sign I mentioned (in one of my dimmer moments:rolleyes: ) - that would be great moral support.
Sorry if I've repeated anything or repeated someone else's thread.
You will not lose your children angel and you will not sleep on the streets!
They're a really great group of people on here. We're here to help hun and if we succeed, that will be a boost to us all :T Plus it's gonna help me stop watching Deal Or No Deal all the time!:rotfl:
I'm going to go and do some research re your situation today & tomorrow angel, as I'm sure everyone else is, so will post as soon as the lightbulb lights up!;) I just have this nagging feeling there's something I'm missing  sso it's back to the books.
You should feel really proud of how well you're doing CGS. And to everyone else - you really are wonderful souls.:T
Much love. Tiff x"If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought." ~ by Peace Pilgrim.***'You just got Tiffed!'***0 -
Just wanted to send a huge hug Sorry things are still so dire & such a struggle at the moment. The only way is up!! Just keep on plugging! Not sure you can demand a specific house as OP suggested it probably will have been allocated & in the process of being redecorated etc...if you are made homeless then you will be able to receive help under the children act as your children will be "in need" so go & discuss with a duty officer of your local childcare team. Cant believe the gut talking about his athletes foot! Unbelieveable & gross!! Yuck! Hope things start looking up soon. Big hugs.Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hello, I have just read all the way through this thread, having never looked at it before and I feel very saddened to know that after all these years Housing officer's attitudes have not improved. I havent really anything useful to say except that I know the fear you are feeling, that unique fear of being on the street. When I was young (12) we were evicted twice. My mum and dad had us when they were old (another long story). For various reasons we ended up in a tied house (he was a forester) but he overturned the tractor and could no longer do the job so we were evicted. All our furniture was sent to the junk yard. My mum and my younger brother and I ended up living with my widowed aunt (who wanted rid of us) and my dad went to London to try to find work. We ended up in another tied house in a rural area but he had another accident and we were evicted again. My dad went to the Council and got down on his knees and cried. Whether it was due to this or not we were given a council house. However, I still remember the feeling of fear and the relief at being housed (I am getting upset thinking about it) so all I can say is I sympathise deeply with you. I hope you will go to the press and expose their hard-hearted attitude to you and your children. I cannot understand their lack of human kindness. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Hi there. I've been following this thread now for a few days and I'm now in tears. How can this happen? I am so angry. I just don't know what else to say apart from that the welfare system in this country just does not work.
Thinking of you CGS0 -
Hi CGS,
I just want to send you my very best wishes, and hope that someone from Devon will read this thread and be able to help you.
Did you ever PM Lynzpower your phone number so that she could talk to you about your situation? Please give it a go as she has made a genuine offer and could possibly tell you things privately that she may not be able to post.
