You asked how do you prove what the housing officer said, you had your landlord with you when you filled out the forms. Now this guy just wants to sell his house not fall out with you as a person, so I dont see why he wouldnt tell the truth and help you out by stating he was witness to it all

Hi Cath, Hi Everyone,
This very thought rang a few bells with me this morning - I can't quite understand the landlords laid back approach - if they want to sell the house and they've done nothing wrong, a letter would tick everyone's boxes and things could move forward.
I hope I'm just being a cynical old Tiffster, , but the start of that phrase, "if they want to sell the house..." just keeps pushing my alarm bells. Or it could be that they're lazy so-and-so's, which is more likely.
Hi CGS, or any of the gang ...;)
- What kind of tenancy lease exists - is it an assured shorthold or what?
-For what length of time is the tenancy lease for and when did you sign it?
-Have you received any written notice to leave from landlord?
-As the Councillor is off having his feet filed at the blacksmith's in Bora Bora, ask to speak to another Councillor - no ward should be left unrepresented- and go through them.
Tiff's pen needs the answers!;)
Much love

Thanks for the update CGS - been thinking of you. Keep bashing away at them (figuratively speaking, of course) :-)
ps. Another brilliant letter, Tiff.0 -
Hi CGS and all The Gang
Firstly CGS, if you haven't downloaded the posts on your thread, send me an email address and I'll send them to you angel. Don't forget that most libraries have computers with internet access hun.
Just came to edit the letter a little regarding the resale of the property. Hopefully, it should appear in blue ink where I've edited it. Please feel free if you think I've worded it too strongly - the point I'm trying to make is..."Do the new buyers know of the sitting tenant situation?" !!! I mean, would you buy a house under those circumstances? I wouldn't. But please tell me if you all think it's too much.I won't be offended.;)

You have been in my thoughts constantly angel - I'd guessed the internet access was the problem. Missed youHope you're all well. I've got no-one to write any letters for...
I've just had a letter-writing idea :j :j :j
Ahem.....
Version 2
Dear [STRIKE]Pugface[/STRIKE],errr, Landlady,
I have asked you to please write a letter to the Council confirming the status of my tenancy and your intent to sell the property on various occasions, with no response from you to date, even though you had kindly agreed to do so.
I require your confirmation that you are selling the property in order to apply for alternative housing. This would undoubtedly also be beneficial to you in the selling of the property. Without this letter, I am unable to progress any further.
As I'm sure you will understand, my primary concern is the security of my family. I request once again a letter from you, stating that you have asked us to vacate your property and your intent to sell. There has been considerable strain on our health in trying to get this matter resolved and I cannot allow this situation to drag on any further for the sake of my children.
Should a letter not be forthcoming within 10 days, I will have no other recourse than to seek further advice as, effectively, you are preventing us from being rehoused. This may be viewed as a breach of your duties as our landlord.
I also would not wish the sale between you and the new owners to be delayed while this issue is dealt with. They are not going to be agreeable to having sitting tenants, but because we have nowhere else to go, we would have no alternative but to wait for the legal system to take its full course through the courts. Please believe that we also wish this resolved sooner rather than later and I need your letter to accomplish this.
I appreciate your time and understanding in this most urgent matter and look forward to a reply at your earliest convenience, so that this matter may be concluded to everyone's satisfaction.
Yours sincerely,
:rotfl:
It was good to here from you and we haven't given up yet angel - thank you for getting in touch and bringing us up to speed. You're so very welcome hun - there are some really good souls on here who give excellent advice. You are not a problem in any way. I am also going to see if I'm allowed to word this letter more strongly.:D
Huge hugs to you angel
Much Love,
Tiff xxx
My pen is literally shaking so get in touch if you can so we can help as best we can.

hey CGS
Remember - don't move out of that property until the very last moment - that reinforces your belief in the truth of your case. It could buy you another 6 months maybe...
Also, could you approach the new owners and ask them how they want you to pay the rent, how much the rent is and what kind of lease do they intend to have with you. If the Ice Queen is there, even better!:p
This is a better way of doing it...
Actually, the way I'd advise you to do it is, after you send Ice Queen the above letter - RECORDED DELIVERY - speak to her and say that you need contact details for the new owners as obviously the rehousing situation isn't moving along for me and I'll need to discuss the situation with them so that they're aware of how long we might have to be here. Also ask her what the buyers know of the current situation.
I would hope that a huge gust of wind will bring you your much needed letter with the ink still wet!:rotfl: Bad TiffShe wouldn't be trying to pull a fast one on the buyers would she????
After all, once she's got her money she'll be off - not her problem anymore - but I think it's very unethical of her to do this if that is her intention.
I know about the schools and the rural area, and there would be no guarantee, but what's the possiblity of you moving two miles away? That housing office MAY rehouse you if your own housing office supports your application. They may be glad to do so in that then it won't be their problem anymore. Just a thought angel.
Much Love
