... when your kid's start telling you how much they love your love of growing things, but could you please remove the propagators from their bedroom as they don't want to live in a jungle anymore!

when your house is a tip but your allotment is spotless. I also collect things I would have thrown out in the past, things I might need on the allotment at some time. When you see a skip and get all excited so stop to have a look for carpet and bits of wood. We always ask before taking anything. When you look at gardening programmes to get advice and find you already know what to do. When you have to walk quickly past gardening books as you know you already have far too many.
    Happy days

    You are hoarding everything,yoghurt pots, milk bottles,tin cans,toilet rolls,lollipop sticks,newspaper,polystyrene,tyres, old bins,recycling tubs,cot bars,glass etc.
To go to a tip (not that YOU would be throwing much out) whilst suffering from this serious Gardeners condition would be fatal!

I have a large pile of yoghurt pots/plastic food containers & bottles in one big pile ala Steptoes backyard.

Your neighbour assumes you're a landscape gardener from what you've done to your garden since you moved in.

I've just done my routine cleaning of laptop, and soil came out between the keys when cleaned them.

Also putting my name down on the allotment list after this being my first garden ever and I've only been here for 3 months, and am running out of room!

When the OH knows not to throw out anything that might be remotely useful - the plastic containers for plums, kiwis, peaches etc are useful to keep the early seedlings protected from the frost.

Also, when you are out in the garden on all fours collecting minute seeds from the flowers and storing in their own little tubs for next year.

When you have a wide variety of plant pots all stored according to size and you know what ones you need to replenish your stocks.

When the kids pool table is covered in trays of plants rather than their cues and balls.

And finally, when there are at least 5 pairs of different gardening gloves in various states of cleanliness somewhere in the garage.

When you catch yourself composing in your head a Facebook posting about the results of your propagator/boiler top experiment, before realising that nobody is interested.

When you think packets of seeds make great fillings for Christmas crackers (and grudge the loo roll tubes).

When you give away your home grown herb pots without labels, because it never occurs to you that everybody won't know exactly what they are.
