I enjoyed reading about you family Christmas, it sounded lovely:)

I've also started up the eBaying.again. I've listed about 12 items since the weekend.

Regarding offers, I tend not to accept them - I nearly always find that the end price of the auction is more than what was offered. I've occasionally accepted, but only on items that I've re listed loads of times - I've been thankful to see the back of some things at any price!

When I started eBaying I tended to list on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for 7 days, so the auctions ended the following Saturday or Sunday afternoon. But now days I tend to end auctions in the evenings from Sunday to Thursdays. (I think people are more likely to be out on Friday and Saturday evening). I seem to get better prices by doing this.

I think it's a good idea to have things listed between Christmas and New Year, as people are likely to be at home, browsing the Internet.

I'm beginning to wonder if Buy It Now's are the way forward. I've sold 4 BIN's since the weekend.

I love the theory of eBay - I spend far too much time thinking about it:rotfl:

Hi greent - I set up a challenge of 2015: sell £1000, if you want to join us! Bet you'd be our leading light!

Love this challenge. Will go and look for it :)

Re: ebay, I don't put much stuff on B-I-N - most of mine goes on as an auction. I do get people asking me for B-I-N prices, but I usually decline to do them, as I usually get more - unless it's a long-standing item, of course! I might start to put some more on B-I-N - I've been giving it a try the past month, and it's worked quite well. The problem then is that you can end up needing to go to the PO every day :( I wouldn't accept a 50% offer, Karma. I start things off at what I'm prepared to accept

Listed a few more things on ebay last night, and found more stuff to list earlier today. I think I need to stop finding things now and actually get the stuff I've got listed on there!

Decluttering is continuing slowly (most stuff is going into piles to get rid of at a later date (eg: charity bag) so isn't yet counted.

    5 - 8 odd or laddered stockings - bin
6 - expired membership cards to a camping club - bin
7 - receipts etc for Xmas presents (given to others) - no complaints from recipients so all have been recycled
8 - 2 half used tubs of nail varnish remover wipes combined into one tub and old tub binned (non recyclable)
9- cardboard box used to store birthday wrapping paper and tags recycled (tags and paper put into under bed storage box with other birthday related stuff)

Money news.... have packaged up my dead iphone to send for recycling - and gone through tcb to do so :) Have also phoned abel and cole to get code for a free box applied to my account (raffle prize) so reducing my grocery spends :D Returned unwanted presents to Next and couldn't find anything suitable in exchange so have £29 giftcard for spends another time :) Also have a couple of things to send back elsewhere, so shall get those packaged later - will get a credit note for those

House is beginning to look trashed, so am off to try and alleviate it, even if only slightly! :)

That's the downside of BINs. I tend to only put things up for BIN if they are quite small, then I can put them in the post box round the corner, but I'm not too worried about proof of posting for low value items

I've made a start on the 2015 de-cluttering today, but as you say, it gets to a point where you have things piled up for future action - it gets worse before it gets better!:rotfl:

Interesting comments on B-I-N. I use that for things that I think might not get a lot of interest and so pop it on for what I want. Currently have a wrist splint on there that was too small - can't see anyone wanting to bid for it - but it is unused so someone might go for it on a BIN. I have the mail collected daily for the business so am less worries about daily posting as that is easily taken care off. (I worked out it was cheaper to pay them to come and get the mail than drive to the post office each day).

Wishing you love, light and peace. Xxx
  • Happy New year xx

Dd3 wants to eBay loads of stuff, currently trying to sum up energy as did loads earlier in year but just fell out with it. Was sick of my utility looking like a charity shop and constant trips to post office. You've motivated me, thanks. Xx

Happy New Year, everyone! We spent the evening playing games with the children and with a takeaway - was good fun :) Am aware that the likelihood of (just) all the 6 of us being together for NYE for many more years is low - so made the most of it (turned down a sitter offer and 2 party invitations) Played more games this afternoon :)

Decluttering - have recycled all 2014 calendars, and have made tags from appropriate Xmas cards (found a few more!) - and put them away with the Xmas wrapping stuff!!! :D

Heating isn't working this evening :( Hot water is ok. Boiler lights are on, pressure is ok and reset button is fine - but no warmth in rads. Thankfully it's reasonably mild overall. We had fire on in living room earlier for about 90 minutes and have 2 electric heaters on upstairs by bedrooms. DS2 has gone to bed with a hot water bottle (others were offered the option of one or a wheat bag but declined) Will turn heaters off when I go to bed very soon. BGas engineer coming out in morning (sometime between 8 -1). I need to go to smarket (about 2 pints of green milk left, same of red - green will all go at breakfast time) so will aim to do that straight off (hoping hot water will still be ok so can jump in shower first!) and get some other shopping at same time (list written ready :D). then have an abel & cole F&v box coming on Tues, along with some of their gorgeous sausages & bacon (yum yum) and a chicken (had a coupon to make it half price) Hopefully that'll be it until following weekend then ('cept for more milk & bread lol) Aiming to keep food spends low and regain some room in my freezer this month - it's too full at the mo :(

Haven't listed anything on fleabay today - will aim to list another min 5 items tomorrow. Need to check on homeworks before school next week too!

All decorations are still up - need to take them down over the next couple of days....... Would have started tonight in the family room - but it's freezing in there without the heating!!!!

Wishing everyone the best for 2015 - let's hope that we all have a fantastic one xx
