greent, that sounds absolutely fantastic! Not the problems in the background, of course, but your present day Christmas, lovely!
I'm interested to see you're listing on ebay - I was wondering about this, does it seem like you'll get proper pricing at this time of year? Isn't everyone looking for bargain basement prices? I've got a load of stuff I want to go on, I was thinking I'd have to wait till February.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I was thinking that about ebay too and wondering if this was the right time to list or not??Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Hi Greent, have just read your diary from start to finish...you are an inspiration! Really looking forward to following the remainder of your journey this year. Have just listed some things for sale after having seen how it has helped you...although I tend to lose heart very quickly with that sort of thing. Good luck for MFW in 20150

I think there are people looking for bargains, sure - but as long as I list it at a start price/ buy it now which I'm prepared to let it go for, then I'm happyIf it doesn't sell then it will auto-relist once (I always select that option) and if it then doesn't sell i'll relist it again (with auto-relist) at the next FLW - there's at least one a month, and to bulk relist on a FLW is a 60 second job
I've sold 3 things on ebay this morningeasylife73 wrote: »Hi Greent, have just read your diary from start to finish...you are an inspiration! Am impressed at you reading my (sometimes quite sorry for myself) witterings!!:o I lose heart with ebay every so often, but it *does* make a reasonable difference to payments and the clutter in my house, so it is worthwhile, even with the (frankly horrendous, esp when you add in paypal) fees at times! When I have a few good sales it inspires me to list more - and if they mainly sell it inspires me again
If there's a FLW and I haven't time to list the items properly I list a dozen or so 'blank' listings. I have these set up and list them on Sunday evening, generic photo (usually a flower), start price £25 (rare I start anything above this - in fact it's rare I start anything above £5!) and then edit the listing on Monday/ Tuesday with the specific details and proper photos - this way I still get the benefit of the free listing but can do it at a time to suitIf I don't get around to amending the listing, I've lost nothing as it was free to list anyway

I'm taking today's ebay sales as part of my £1500 in 2015 target - so I've made the grand sum of £19.46 after all fees and postage as a start!!
That also means I've started on my decluttering:
1. old bank note - ebayed
2. maternity bra - ebayed
3. apple adaptor (spare one) - ebayed
4. recycled packaging used for all ebay items
I have a small bag of things for CS, but will count that when it has actually gone!
OP'd £80 - £60 from mortgage piggy bank (£2 coins) and £20 from paypal, so will reduce balance in my sig accordingly
We're out shortly at a family gathering, so no ebay/ decluttering/ housework progress to be made now until tomorrow, I expect

Do you find it makes a difference when the auction ends on ebay, as I listed 7 items yesterday and was then thinking of leaving it until Thursday and putting things on a 10 day listing so they all end on a Sunday, but notice you've sold things today.0

In an ideal world I like Thurs listings, ending on a Sunday - catches 2 weekends of views
What you can do is list them and have them as draft listings (ie: not actually publish them) before Thurs a- and then publish them as real listings on Thurs night if you have some free time in between now and then. I don't massively bother with the Thurs- Sun thing much now, as it's not often there's a FL period covering a Thurs, plus the auto-relisting thing then messes it up for the 2nd listing. My main priority now is just actually getting the stuff listed - it's quite tedious
Have been doing some decluttering in my bedroom tonight and found some more items to list, a top to donate, 3 new body lotions to donate (don't like the smell) (will count them in totals when they leave) and discovered that I have about 60 pairs of stockings - most of them identical brand/ design......:o:o (bear in mind that I mainly live in jeans and trainers!!)
Came home from lovely family do having been well fed and brought home presents of consumables (food) and 2 mugs - result!
Dh back at work tomorrow (WFH today because of family do - he more than makes up the 2 hours in all the late nights he has both here and in the real office) so I shall catch up on some ironing and start a teeny bit of post Xmas clear up (I may remove table cloth, runner and Xmas confetti from dining table!and take down 'mass' cards) Also need to sit and do some homework with small 2 and ensure DS1 has been doing his (I know DD has, we were talking about it earlier) Planning on avoiding shops (food related) until weekend - we should just have enough bread and milk and we have plenty of everything else!!

Excellent start to de-cluttering. Think you might have inspired me too GreenT, I have a few nursing bras I could sell and since they are not cheap may make a few ££££. I have posted an item on a local selling page but no sale as yet!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Hi greent - I set up a challenge of 2015: sell £1000, if you want to join us! Bet you'd be our leading light!
(but I expect you have enough on your plate without joining yet another challenge!!)NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
greent, sorry for the slight hijack, but do you ever have people making offers on your stuff? I've just had a very low offer on a book, which I'm not accepting (50%!) but I'm wondering if people who make offers tend to be bad payers? I'll be looking on the ebay threads on here, just wondered if you had any info
Normal service resumed
ETA - I declined, having read on the ebay boards. Wow! Empowering2023: the year I get to buy a car0
