All sounds great! Veg garden especially :)

I've got one of those Lakeland airers. It's quite bulky and will never win any beauty awards but it's completely ace at what it's designed to do. One thing I've really noticed with having ds3, the washing is absolutely never ever ending and my airer is on pretty much permanently

Hi greent, I've a Lakeland 3 tier airer too it's fantastic. I virtually never use the dryer now and mine is on all the time - jeans , sheets the lot. I nearly didn't get it as they are quite pricey but honestly I couldn't live without it now.
    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁

I was just catching up on GG's thread and spotted an entry from you which led me to look at your signature.

Forgive me for not reading your thread throughout but I thought I would just comment upon your "figures" (so to speak).

A reduction of over £100k since 01/09 - top bombing!!!

I am sure, given the same momentum, you will hit your goal of MF by the end of next year

And - if you don't mind me hi-jacking your thread I noted MWC is on the cusp of going through the £100k owed barrier too.

I know this board is inspirational for many but a :j and a  from me to you both

    Top stuff

I'm managing to dry the washing on the line all the time at the mo - but we didn't have heating on last year until mid- late Oct (I think) and about the 28th Sept the year before so if the weather turns I'm stuck - so will probably invest in one, I think. We have a virtually unused large room in our house (basically almost double garage sized - used to be my therapy room when I did massages from home) so it can easily live in there without getting in anyone's way (DH hates washing hanging around and also hates airers lol)

Thanks Al - saw the email after your post about the free listings - with all 4 back at school from tomorrow I have the chance to get some ebaying done - no excuses anymore!

Thanks ahem :) - some points of the journey have been much harder than others and I think that many of us (I know I certainly do) forget to see just how far we've all come - I tend to focus on what's to come and how I can get there. Sometimes a look back is a good thing :) And feel free to hijack re MWC - always worth mentioning a barrier broken - and the 100k one is a huge psychological one :)
As to commenting on my figures ;) - sadly mine isn't reducing in line with my mortgage lol!:rotfl::rotfl:

  • Belated well done to dd for her grades, and very well done to you for the ops!
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Well the teens went back yesterday and both seemed to enjoy their first day back :) DD's not overly impressed with her uniform (grey suit, white blouse with school crest on breast) - but it's better than the green and yellow combination for the lower school :) She has none of her close friends in either her tutor group or her classes. And her best friend has gone to a different sixth form :( She'll get used to it, though - and there's always weekends! :)

DS1 has his new options timetable - looks pretty full on, so he'll need to ensure he's committed and motivated for the next 2 years :)

I currently have about 2kg of ingredients bubbling away for spiced apple and pear chutney. The house smells! I've changed the original recipe to make do with what's already in (I refuse to buy too many special ingredients for chutney - it seems to be contrary to the spirit of chutney making (using up a glut, imo)) - so instead of just malt vinegar I've used a mix of malt and white wine (with a small dash of pomegranate balsamic to use it up!), raisins instead of sultanas, demerera instead of soft dark brown sugar and left out the ginger totally. It's usually a very dark chutney and I've a feeling it's going to be somewhat lighter this year! Still - am sure it will still taste good! :) Will give some away at Xmas as there will be far too many jars for just us!:) When the runner beans have finished I'll make a version of Delia's runner bean chutney, too.

Talking of Christmas (111 days to go, I think!) I need to sort out what I've already got and who I'm getting things for - and possible ideas for those. I always do that in Sept when the children go back to school - it's the start of my Christmas countdown :)

No MF money stuff to report here. I've just checked my cashback accounts and I've only got £2.08 payable :D with only another £14 pending - I've not been buying from online places much recently :( Will do some of my Xmas shopping online, I expect. Oh - and I need to look at energy providers - our fix is coming to an end so I need to look at the best deals. Hopefully I can also get a bit of cashback at the same time! (Gotta love free money)

Hair appointment next week - trying a new place under a Groupon deal - £17 for cut, conditioning treatment and blow dry. Will hopefully be ok...... fingers crossed!

No more food spends planned until Sunday, when I'll need to top on bread, milk, f&v (not too much as we have stuff in the garden and freezer) and lunchbox bits. Will hopefully be a low spend as a result. (Current Sept spends = £49.17 on food, £2.34 on household bits (binliners and tissues))

Hope everyone has a good Friday and an even better weekend :) xx

Great catch up. Well done to Miss GreenT on results and to you on the overpayments. Am sure you will make that 12/15 target.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Morning! Having been awake since 5.15am (!!) I decided to give in and get up. I've emptied and reloaded dishwasher and have been catching up on emails and blogs with a lovely cup of tea :)

After saying I wasn't shopping until Sunday we did nip to Stresco last night as DS2 put in a special request. As he hasn't been eating particularly well this week I was happy to oblige (It was only for a certain sort of bread roll!) I was going to send DH by himself as he's better than me at not getting distracted, but he wanted me to go to.... So we spent £1 on bread rolls for DS2 and hit the f&v when things were reduced by 80%..... I got strawberries for 40p, 2 packs of kale (for Sunday and the gpigs) for 20p each, huge leeks for 20p, an extra large cauli for 37p, 2 punnets of nectarines for 20p each, a stew pack of veg for 20p - bargains not to be missed!

Small ones have swimming lessons this morning. I shall get the teens to clean their bathrooms and I'll do the kitchen and some washing. That leaves us all free for this afternoon, when I think we might pop to Gloucester Cathedral to see the crucible2 exhibition
