Morning all! Can't believe I haven't posted on here for almost 2 months!!!

Strawberries have now finally all gone - ast made into a compote yesterday :) Now have a glut of courgettes, runner beans and potatoes - not half as appealing lol!! :D

DH had an off er from Saudi and turned it down - aside from the distance thing (which he would have found harder than us) there's nothing to do really out there. And it's a 9 month contract initially, so not even the tax benefits of non dom. They seem keen though as they've since asked him to name his price :)

Camped last week in N Devon - aside from our lot (minus DS1 who went off to army camp in Kent and is back later today) there was my mum, my aunt for all of it, my uncle for some of it, my cousin and her 2 boys for most of it (great for my small 2 to play with0 and another aunt, uncle, cousin and 3 kids for a couple of days :) Was a bit wet and windy at the start to say the least!!! Bonus was my mum paid and refused to have the money from me - so I op'd it. And fed her lots :)

OPing still going on here at times - very occasional ebay, tax rebate, cashback etc. Now under 24k and Sept should see us break the 'monthly interest less than £50' barrier!! On target to repay may 2016 - just need to pull that back a few more months to get to my Dec 2015 target :):)

DD never managed to get a job over the summer - not that she tried very hard in the end :(

On the subject of DD - it's results day today of course - so I will go and wake her shortly. Can't believe how many of my friends are stressing over the results for their children - nothing's going to change it - the result was there in effect when they walked out of the exam room - que sera sera..... Worrying about it isn't going to change what's on that piece of paper - and isn't going to help their child in the run up.

Can't believe holidays are almost over!! Have the dreaded annual shoe shopping trip on Saturday = mega £££!! Still have a couple of clothing items left to get for the children too must make sure I knock it all on the head on Sat!

    Back later xx

    Hi greent welcome back :)

Well done getting under 24k  it's a shame the job didn't pan out for your dh, but it's a long time to be away. My dh was offered a job working in Egypt at the pyramids when the kids were very little, it would have set us up financially but it was for 3 years and it was just too long to not see the family grow up.

Oh and if you have spare strawberries I'll have them :D

Well DD took 12 GCSEs and passed all of them - 3 A*, 4 A and 5 B - so both she and I are very happy with that and her sixth form place and subjects have been confirmed :D

    Well done Miss Greent :j.

Thanks :) Am very pleased with DD's results - the Bs in Maths and German were a very pleasing result - she struggles with maths and a C was her expected grade so all of her hard work clearly paid off :) I struggle to see her struggling - I loved maths and took mine a year early and wanted to be a maths teacher until I discovered economics and business studies in the 6th form. She only ever asked me for help with maths twice in the past 5 years - she's a very independent young woman when it comes to schoolwork :)

Couldn't add any more to that post for some reason :(

DS1 came back from Army cadet camp yesterday afternoon - very tired and very chilled. Lovely to have him back (although have done 2 loads of washing for his stuff so far with more to go!) and I've clearly taught him well - he brought back all of his excess field rations - inc hot chocolate, porridge, muesli, about 18 slices of fruit cake!! (only 2 of them liked it so he was getting it from others), tea bags, sugar sachets, coffee and other stuff - good lad!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

Only DS3 is up with me at the mo. Dh went to work about 7.30 and the other 3 are still fast asleep - DD tired after the emotions of yesterday, DS1 shattered after a long 13 days away and Ds2 was reading HPotter until far too late last night!! I will wake them up shortly - I need them to be getting up at a reasonable time from now on in readiness for back to school ;0

On that note, we're off to do the school shoe shopping trip tomorrow and pick up the last few pieces of uniform (nothing major, just things like socks) DD has also gained quite a bit of money from grandparents for her results so may buy a Pandora charm or two with some of it. I could also do with taking some of the monies out from the younger 2s money boxes and banking it - DS2 in particular has a crazy amount in there!

Talking of crazy money, I spent £245 :eek:across ebay/ the book people and amzon yesterday afternoon on books from suggested reading lists for DD's A levels and DS1's GCSEs - and I only scraped the surface of the lists for her subjects!! History and eng Lit require a lot of texts!! Have also had to fork out about £70 on art stuff for DS1's GcsE!!!

DD has thrown all of her maths and German coursework and revision notes into the recycling now :) Revision books for maths, sciences and English have gone to DS1. RS revision book will go on ebay (DS1 took his RS, ICT and a maths GCSe early in the summer but his results aren't given him until first day back)

Still - am very glad about it all overall :)

Meal out last night at place of DD's choosing - she chose Frankie and Bennys lol :) 20% off food voucher downloaded from their site and used - yeay! Nice evening out but waiting about 20-25 minutes for the bill with tired children was a bit of a spoiler to the end.

Lovely to see you GreenT and well done to DD!

Think you and Mr GT are totally right about the Saudi job ... difficult decision though, especially in the light of their counter-offer!

Lots of courgettes here too ... loving courgette salad, will be researching courgette cake this weekend too!

    Happy shoe shopping tomorrow x
