You got a plasterer!! So jealous!
It's a shame you lost money on the holiday. Nothing more annoying.
And I'm not sure if I am happy or sad for you that you've banished DH to the spare room! Enjoy! What I do not give, you must never take by force.

So I've had a crazy fortnight at work - total of just under 100 hours over the 2 weeks - bearing in mind I probably average no more than 5 a week usually, I was shattered! All good, though - I was helping out because one colleague was in quarantine and the boss's husband had a liver transplant after waiting for years for one. He is home now and doing well, which is fantastic news
- so happy for them
Good news for my pocket, too - lots of hours worked = a decent amount of money earned
It does mean I haven't phoned the plasterer yet, though - that's tomorrow's job (fingers crossed he's not away for half term) DH has contacted 7 other plasterers in the meantime - only 1 of whom replied - saying he was too busy to take on any other work for several months!
Any other news.... purchaser of BTL has their mtge offer, so that's good. I do need to chase up sols, though, as we are also extending the lease (currently only around 54 years left on it) as part of the sale (cost to us approx £450, increase in value more than £10k - no brainer!) and I've heard nothing about that since August..... slightly concerning!
DD has finally finished her dissertation (3 extensions in total, including one very last minute one offered by her tutor as her stress levels were so high) so it's now just a waiting game. She is also job-hunting - but it's a rubbish time to be doing so, tbhI shall get her on helping around the house as well - although her boyfriend is currently staying with us as they haven't seen each other since July, so she's not going to be doing much whilst he's here (although him coming did mean her bedroom and bathroom got a good clean by her before he arrived)
Have started some minimal Xmas prep - can't believe it's only 2 months away! Despite (or perhaps because of) its strangeness, this year seems to have flown by - or maybe its my advancing years!

Hi greent, I'm glad things are going so well, but I just want to pop in a warning about the lease extension. Different circumstances, but you might get an early warning of something. When we were selling my mum's house after she died, we made the decision to buy the freehold - all the houses round there were leasehold, because of the old landed gentry thing when they were built. We bought it, we had documentary proof, but we didn't get the house deeds changed, so on the very day of completion, about ten in the morning, we were told to pay an "indemnity" against future claims by the freeholder. All a complete lie of course, the freeholders were desperate to sell (ground rent was fixed at £8 per annum!) but we had no choice but to go along with it at that late stage, as our conveyancer was useless.Sorry! But HTH

Thanks, karma
The freehold to the property is held by the management company - which in turn is owned by all the owners of the properties - so shared between potentially 28 people - so we own 1/28th of the freehold in effect, anyway, so there's never an issue getting things sorted
- which is great
Soggy day here - nipped over to Cheltenham to have a look at mattresses in J0hnL3w1s there but all it did is confirm we don't want an 3mma one - may possibly want a S1mba hybrid, but the nearest one on display is hundreds of miles away. Did find some wall and ceiling lights we really like for the dining room and living room, though - which was a bonus - and a new aftershave for DH, as his has been discontinued and is getting harder and harder to find anywhere. Also picked up some random bits in T1g3r and free cups of tea from Ner0 with 02 app (need the old spinning Martin emoji there!). Just off out in a mo to M0unta1n Wareh0use for new walking boots for DS2 - his feet just keep on growing..... still, I save his walking boots for DS3, as they aren't worn *that* often before being outgrown.
Had another person come and quote for the kitchen ceiling yesterday - we've said yes to the quote - now to see if he replies to that with a date for doing the work..... Slowly, slowly we may get things done.... maybe!!

Mattresses are so personal aren't they! We bought ours (a made to measure latex rubber one) years ago and it has stood the test of time, except the cover. I bought a mattress cover and that has extended its life. It is still very comfortable, not sweaty (iykwim) and does not harbour any nasty allergens, but it was v expensive and its 7 foot length means all fitted sheets are stretched to their limit. In the van we bought a memory-foam topper in last year's January sale and I cut the corner off and re-sewed the cover and on top of the old foam mattress and the bed is much more comfortable now. In contrast, our DS has an Id(k)ea pocket sprung thing that he chose and loves that more than the latex topped foam one (that you can reverse for the seasons) that he had here.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
