Wow, thats a big family turning point, DS3 leaving that primary! Did you shed a tear???Like you guys, I haven't been into a shop yet ... I'd like to buy a few things in Wickes (like white sealant to fill gaps in woodwork before winter) but I'll use brown that I have, and paint itHave a lovely weekend, greent.2023: the year I get to buy a car8

I did go into Morries last Wednesday - my first shop since 17th March. The woman at the cashdesk said there had been four of us so far that day - by 09.15 and all echoing that they needed to wrest it back from their husbands who had been doing it, got their confidence and gone rogue, ignoring the list and making independent decisions (averaging £10-20 extra per shop!) - it made me laugh. In DH's case he is so happy I have taken it on. I hope I can continue.
18 years. Hard to imaging. 7 through infants and juniors was bad enough - so much lost kit and lunch boxes!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Well DS3's new school have advised us not to buy school ties because each year group will be wearing a special coloured 'bubble' tie to help ensure no crossovers in areas at school - they told us this 2 days AFTER I'd purchased 2 school ties.... sigh.... will mean a trip back in to town to see if I can get a refund - will combine with the school shoe purchase trip.
School uniform shopping itself was ok - appointments only and max 3 customers in at any one time as long as they were in different areas of the shop - but the rest of town looked fairly awful with queues to get in most places. We did also nip in to Debnums as I had a reward voucher to spend so I bought some school shirts (which were also 20% off) He can also have some short sleeve shirts from DS2 who doesnt like them so has worn them maybe 2 or 3x - they are still sparkling white (I normally rag bag school shirts as they look grubby at collar and cuffs, I always find)
@Karmacat - no, I didnt shed a tear - I'm not a hugely sentimental person at the best of times and am glad to be leaving primary behind- although sad for my son that he disnt get the usual full experience.
Not much else happening here - although I've currently found my mojo for weight loss/ exercise - 9lbs off in just under 3 weeks (to go with the kept-off 7lbs from earlier in the year) - I can tell a slight difference - let's just hope I can keep it up!!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £2011 -

Yes, well done with the weight loss. Also my focus at the moment - back to Michael Mosley's book and website. Works for meSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Thanks to all re weight loss
- I'm kind of going for lots of lean protein, lots of veg and not many carbs (although am not cutting them out - eg: we have a bbq planned and a burger is not the same without a bun!!
) with an occasional treat - but I know if I go for a too-regular treat it becomes the norm.. and therein lies the slippery slope for me!! And a decent cardio session (cross trainer/ rower or zumba min 4x/ week) and a walk min 5x week (not long walks - only about 2.5k)
We lost our last guinea pig last week - she was fine that day in the morning - I had her out for cuddles - and then she started going a bit weird in the late afternoon - sort of staring into space occasionally and then back to normal. It happened a few times and I brought her in for a check over and then she started having fits - I called the vets and they got back to me eventually (was a very busy evening there) and we took her in for an examination - but in between my call and their return call she had a couple of really bad fits - very scary and distressing to watch - and she ended up after the last one slumped down (but responsive) The vet said epileptic fits were not treatable at that level (I recorded one on my phone) and also she found an enlarged kidney - which isn't good in g-pig - so it was decided it was best for her to be euthanised, rather than most likely die a painful, prolonged death in the next 24-48 hoursPoor thing - she was really lovely tempered and very pretty. It has meant we've gained back a large space in the garage, though - which meant we spent part of the weekend re-organising and tidying in there and it now looks much better
I donated lots of her unused food/ bedding/ treats etc to a friend with gpigs. We destroyed the hutch (it was past its best!) and donated the garden run to someone else. I gave things like the pet carriers, unused bowls (we had loads of spares - a relative kept buying them for us!) to the CS (after a good clean of everything - not that she was infected, but that's not the point) She's buried under one of the fruit trees - all of them are
The garden looks very weird without a run in it, though....
We're off to move DS1's things from old student house to new student house tomorrow - means it'll all be sorted ready for Sept and the tenancy end/ start points are uncomplicated. DD will be here to ensure smallest 2 don't create too much havoc!Although it's meant to be about 30 degrees here tomorrow, so no doubt they'll just be hiding indoors playing on laptops / the Sw1tch- not something I'm going to be too concerned about for tomorrow, tbh.
Nothing much else really to report - I bought some more PSB today with some more Florida refund money. I've also submitted DH's tax return (bill of just under £400 from BTL) and dealt with tax credits paperwork ( we don't get any, but we did a few years back, so we have an 'open' account with a nil award each year....) and ordered some uniform bits for DS3 (he needs everything - he's grown heaps in lockdown), got a refund from MnS for a missing item from my order and dealt with some school/ DofE related paperwork for both DS2 and DS3. I think I've dealt with most of my to-do list for today - just exercise (wanted to get most of the above done first!) and getting DS3 to try on new sch trousers (several styles ordered) - which will be a struggle - he hates trying things on! Then I can package up all the unwanted ones for returning back to MnS
OK - can't put the exercise off any longer, I guess..... Think I'll do rower to podcastsI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £2011
