Toyota; Total recall?

As far as anyone who says a post of mine is stupid is concerned, I take that to mean that they are calling me stupid, don't try playing on words to back away from it. If you meant it, say so, if you didn't, you mat consider an apology in order
The whole point, and you will not accept this, is that Toyota created a control system that was flawed, they have fully admiitted this, maybe they are not quite as perfect as you?
You can take my words however you like, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I apologise for commenting on the idiocy of somebody's point of view. Still, if you consider that the criticism of an argument can be transposed onto one's person, then in your case I'll not disagree with that, and my criticism will stand.
I don't accept that Toyota have created a flawed control system. The only mistake they've made is in presuming that the users of their vehicles have a modicum of intelligence.0 -
exactly, the more 'fly by wire' a car has then the more is controlled via ECU
i will admit when i first heard about this i assumed driver error
however reading some of the cases and one where a driver had the handbrake on and hit feet pushed hard on the brake pedal, yet the car accelerated against this leads me to believe there could be an issue
people on you tube demonstrating how a car behaves when it is functioning as normal means nothing
My car has "fly by wire" operation of both the transmission and the accelerator. I know exactly how to stop it, no matter what happens to either.
BTW I don't know why Mikey is replying to my posts, since I have him on ignore I cannot see the content (unless quoted as above). Still, it's his time, and if he wants to continue being abusive as he was in the child seat threads then he can continue to be so in the knowledge that the recipient of his abuse cannot see it.0 -
So we are all agreed then.
A secondary system to cut off the juice entering the motor might be a good idea and I am sure there is already a secondary system working the brakes without wires & vacuum.
It does rather raise the question of how many civil servants were employed round the world to check the construction and use regulations against new model cars.
Probably asleep at their desks or too busy checking that the headlights were exactly between X & Y inches off the road surface.
Talking about check lists - it all sounds like the FSA checking the banks, while the world economic system was collapsing about their ears.0 -

I will take your words as you intended them, you have now called me an idiot as well as stupid, keep digging pew pew the hole gets deeper
Exactly, but they do?????????????????
Please don't preach to me about intelligence after your recent posts:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Really, you need to learn to read. I did not call you an idiot.
I think that Gordon Brown's policies are idiotic. I do not, however, think that the man is an idiot.
Do you not understand the difference?0 -

PEW PEW, there is no difference, only an idiot would make idiotic suggestions,:whistle::whistle:, try and define it differently???
Actually, I too think some of Gordon Browns polices/promises are idiotic. Do I think he is an idiot? of course I do, why else would he make those policies, unless he wanted to make idiots out of us???
Who makes foolish descisions, a fool or a wise man?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Clearly you are intellectually incapable of rationalising the difference, and not worth debating with. Albert Einstein struggled for years with the idea of Quantum Mechanics, but nobody would ever call him an idiot.
Stick to throwing mud, it suits you better.0 -

Ok pp, you nearly have the set.:T:T:T
So far you have called me "stupid"
You have called me an "idiot"
And now " intellectually incapable", do you mean "thick"?
What part, of when you are in a hole, "stop digging" escapes you?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

after almost a decade of working on electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles i know full well it is possible for machines to drive by themselves, stop by themselves and steer by themselves. but in most cases there has always been a way to stop any of these problems becoming a danger to folk, its usually a big red emergency stop button or an easy to reach battery plug that saves the day. but equally it requires a trained operator who is on the ball and fully conversant with thier machine to deal with the stuation....work permit granted!0 -
Operators of such machinery are almost always trained, and know exactly what to do in an emergency.
Toyota offers the same training in the form of an owner's manual, it isn't their fault that so many of their owners can't be bothered to take it.0
