When Brown spouts out "Every cencer patient will be seen in xxx days" to every microphone that he can get in front off, is this localised decision making at NHS trust level or centralised targets being dictated to hospitals by Brown?

Neither, they are the ramblings of an imbecile who will promise anything to get re-elected and then spend the next few years not bothering about it. Deranged politics made up on the hoof simply to wrong foot the opposition.

What really sticks in my throat is when Gordon Brown is making his "election pledges", does he actually know what the word pledge means?. As far as Im aware and I stand to be corrected it means a "solemn promise" or "a guarantee that a promise will be kept", He and the rest of his party reneged on most of the pledged they have made in the past so why should we believe him this time?..

The reason I have mentioned Nu-Lab is because they've been in government for the last umteen years and the Tories haven't had the chance to renege on any promises .

I would just like to add,I visited a friend of mine this afternoon at the Conquest Hospital,I arrived at 2pm and left at 3:15pm and was charged £2-20 for the parking.I find it a disgrace to charge people parking at hospitals. No one goes to a hospital out of choice and as for the lame excuse of "its a way of raising a small amount of revenue" sorry but funding comes from central government through taxation, not parking charges.

Car parking charges are necessary to fund hospital budgets.

Great Western at Swindon are proposing to increase staff car parking charges to around £500 per annum. The hospital is on the eastern edge of the town around 3.5 miles from the town centre. So patients may find their nursing staff disappear as many rush to catch the last bus home. No, I'm not joking, many bus routes served from the hospital end before 6pm!

That is a good point, so why not argue that point. From my experience as a patient and relation of other patients over the last 15years some thing have improved. I agree there is still a lot wrong and for the amount of money ploughed in they should have. As for staff moral that’s difficult to gauge if you are not staff or know staff personally.

From my personal experience I can honestly say , that the people that work in in NHS genuinely care. Yet are greatly frustrated by interference from Central Government. At middle management level there is a lethagy that the NHS is what is, and it can't change.

No they're not. The funding should come from central funding to finance hospital, all this rubbish about we need to charge for this and that or we will need to cut hospital budget is a total red herring. Whats next Thrugelmir? will they start charging visitors to use the toilets?,patients food?.

My local Hospital has 4 floors, the whole of the top floor is all administration full of pen pushers.I would also say our Hospital Trust CE is leaving her post ,she is not working her agreed 12 months notice period but she is still walking away with £175,000 .She has chosen to leave, no one has forced her out and yet she is still given thousands.Th Trust now has to employ another CE for 12 months to do her job, so in effect we are paying twice for the same job.

Lastly 7 months ago the local people finally put a stop the the Trusts plan to close the maternity unit at Hastings or Eastbourne (which would have meant some mothers would meed to have travelled nearly 80 miles round trip when in labour.

I find it perverse that on the one hand they want to close important wards etc and yet on the other hand are willing to pay off a CE with £175k which she clearly shouldn't get......

As for the bus services, its the same here, no different and the buses only run every 2 hours on Sundays..and half the time they are either cancelled.

You forgot Brown flushing away £7 billion by selling the UK's gold, Spartacus. That was an act of treachery.

The man isn't just 'an incompetent moron' - he's actively malign.

I understand from a banker friend that a report into exactly how this happened (what advice was received etc) is due out in about 28 days, and that apparently attempts to restrict it have failed.
