i would never eat sweets sent in a parcel:(
and i wasnt pleased at the seller who sent glass heart beads in a parcel as i took the item out, the fell and 2 smashed on the wood floor, had to grab the cat as she investigated it all:mad:
seed seller i buy from always sends freebies, and they are appreciated0 -
I think either related or very general (a pen or something) is the best bet - Dad's had 1 or 2 things from big sellers with a pen with their business name on it, I gather you can buy like 100 for not very much with custom writing.
I buy some health & beauty type stuff and have had a couple of sample sized things, and also a boots voucher! Not worth loads but nice as a little extra
If you're a business seller, a code for say 5% off their next order if they send it as the message with an invoice is a nice touch, also persuasive to buy from you again IMO.0 -
A fabric seller I've bought from sends the fabric with a little lavender sachet. Keeps the fabric selling nice and fresh in the post and you can use it as a drawer freshener too.

I thought it was lovely but looking at this thread I bet a lot of people email and complain they don't like the smell of lavender!:(:www: :: MFi3 ::

We send freebies instead of a invoice.
They have a note in with our username, and it's all stuff that is essential to the items but not worth anything (if that makes sense!)
If we didn't send them out I think we'd be swimming in them by now, so they are doing us a favour getting rid of them, but often get glowing feedback mentioning them.
I think people generally like it, makes a change I guess. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.

I've only once had some freebies - a few sheets of decorative paper and some cutouts when I bought some craft stuff. I thought it was really nice and I wouldn't dream of complaining. However, I do appreciate that it's good to know that something is a freebie, otherwise you do wonder whether you've got the wrong order by accident (which I have had happen!)0

I definitely appreciate a free gift and if it's related to the item I've bought (which they invariably are) that's even better. Not keen on sweets being included personally, but that's just me. I would appreciate that the seller was making an effort nonetheless.
What I object to is not knowing whether it's a free gift or a mistake that I've got to return.
BTW, The thing that came today was actually mentioned in the auction blurb, but I had mis-understood the terms - I just hope the seller doesn't read this thread

A seller sent me a bar of galaxy with a law book I bought. I was thrilled, never had a freebie before. Needed it to help me with an essay I had to write

I send promotional freebies like pens, keyrings, fridge magnets, memory sticks etc - but they all have the website address on it as an ongoing reminder...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0

I wouldn`t eat sweets sent either... I have purchased things in the past, which have been beautifully wrapped with tissue and ribbon but have had lollipops in and they go straight in the bin!
When I sell items I do state if there is a free item with the purchase ie earrings with a bracelet.
It is a tricky one as you don`t know if something is free or not if not mentioned.
On saying that I do love a freebie, the bead supplier I use always sends a little free sample stapled to the invoice which is lovely.0 -
I send out a little pack of sweets with each order - I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but I strongly believe that it is suitable and appreciated by my demographic.
From reading this thread however, I think I will start printing an extra line on each slip that I include along the lines of 'hope you enjoy the sweeties' or something just so they know they didn't get put in by accident!
Lol, it's so true that you can't please everyone but you can at least give it a go
