  • I've posted this before but it is still missing from the list.

    The Wallace Collection is a beautiful museum of 18thC French paintings, Furniture and porcelain. Housed in the lovely Hertford House, it is a little oasis of calm and tranquility just a stones throw from busy Oxford Street, behind Selfridges. It is one of my favourite places places in London.

  • There is a small but interesting Art Gallery in Sleaford, Lincolnshire which was set up to showcase the work of Lincolnshire Artists. Its remit is to champion local art and displays art from individual artists and art groups, both professional and non-professional. Entry is absolutely free with no obligation to purchase.     I work in the learning and access dept at Glasgow Musuems and entry to all 8 museums are free. Info can be found on them all at the Glasgow museums website www dot glasgowmuseums dot com (cant post links yet!)

    I am organising a free open day with lots of fun events at Scotland Street School Museum where the school comes to life for the day, there is one session that is fee paying (got to pay the actress!) and further info can be found at the website above

  • The Pound arts centre in Corsham, Wiltshire (SN13 9HX) has a free gallery with exhibitions of artwork all year round.

    The arts centre's free Crafty Saturdays are popular and fun with all the family - make creative havoc in the gallery space. All materials supplied.

    The arts centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Crafty Saturdays are held from 11.30am to 2.30pm on the following dates:

  • The Lewis Elton Gallery is a wonderful little gallery situated at the heart of the University of Surrey campus. It hosts a dynamic range of exhibitions by professional artists or arts organisations. Warning - it isn't easy to find and parking can be a problem on weekdays but it is worth the effort. You could combine your visit with a free lunchtime concert on Wednesdays or look out for other free talks and arts events.   • My home town of Bideford, Devon has the Burton Art Gallery and Museum
    (not allowed to post link as I am a new user! - it's on Google)
    It is totally free and has a continually changing programme of exhibitions, museum and is currently working on opening a ceramics gallery. It also has a craft gallery where you can buy excellent works, a cafe and also houses the Bideford Tourist Information Centre to boot.
    Open Mon to Sat 10 - 4 & Sun 11 - 4.
    Well worth a look.
