easyMobile: SIM plus credit offers (merged)

easyMobile do some great offers, the only thing I dont really like is that you need to have auto-top up enabled to get international roaming to be able to call 090 numbers.
I like to vote on Big Brother which is an 090 number but cant unless I do the above.
Edit: By the way I had 0 balance when I closed an easyMobile account and didnt have to pay anything, you only pay the £5 admin fee if you have a balance greater than £5.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 126 :j

From the first thread that I posted:I've just closed my easymobile account as i have a new sim ready to use and dont want the old ones hanging around. Made sure i had about £7 credit left so that i was covered for th £5 "admin" fee.
I've now just had an email saying my account is £4.07 overdrawn! Looked on my account page on the website and it shows "Bonus withdrawal £11"
What the heck is that? I cant believe i now owe them £4 when i had £7 credit. I wish i hadnt bothered to close it now.
This person used their 'free' credit and then they withdrew from his account when he wanted to close it. I think you'll find that they wanted them to pay it back. The exact same thing happened with the two £5 sims that i had.
They withdraw your bonus when closing. Therefore, you pay £3 for a sim, get £30 credit. After say 4 months you want to close account, you send them the request, they comply...they then send you a final statement. If you have spent that 'free' £30 bonus credit, they will withdraw it from your account.
Unless they have changed their T&C's! I purchased my sim a while ago and i know that Easymobile was getting slack from consumer watchdogs.0 -
You have to pay your free credit back? Surly there is some false advertising there, beucase if you have to pay it back then surly its not free?!

As i understand Tom through reading through other peoples experiences, they no longer remove the free bonus credit. However, there is plenty of hidden charges which you can read up on by searching for 'EASYMOBILE' on MSE.0 -

If this is what you understand, why did you post earlier today 'If for any reason you wanted to stop using Easymobile PAYG service, you will have to pay back whatever free credit you obtained when you joined'.
Are you just trying to cause trouble for Easy Mobile? I don't know why you should, I've had no trouble with them and I find them very good and very, very cheap.
Perhaps you could clarify what you now understand - either they remove the free bonus credit, or they don't. Which is it - one of your posts must be wrong because they can't both be right!0 -
Well I just cancelled mine as I couldn't persuade dd to change from Virgin. They told me that as long as the balance was in credit there were no charges. They would charge a £5 admin fee if I wanted any remaining credit moving back to my bank. So best time to close would be when you have around a £1 or downwards left which you don't want recrediting. You do have to remember that the balance shown on line is not in real time and I personally didn't use the phone for a couple of days prior to closure. Since they give you a stonking great amount of free credit I wasn't remotely bothered. Account now closed with no problems. I shall be keeping my phone with them.0

how long does the credit last,is it till it runs out,no day limits.would be handy in emergenciesif i had known then what i know now0
-
Yep, but you need to use £5 of it every three months otherwise they take 75pence per month off your credit balance. Since its free in the first place I don't really have a problem with that.0

so guys to be absolutely clear we don't have to pay back the free £30 bonus (as is the case with this new offer) on closing the account ? Just a £5 admin fee ?0
-
The £5 admin fee is payable only if you want Easy to return some money that you've actually paid them. For example, if you used all your free bonuses on calls then bought a £10 top-up, used only £1 of it, and then wanted to leave there would be £9 of your own money left in your account ('cos you've already used all your free bonuses). Easy will pay you back £4, keeping £5 to cover their admin costs of the refund and closure ....... I think!
If you use, say, £8 of your £10 top up on calls, then there will be only £2 left in your account. If you ask for this to be paid back to you, Easy will first deduct their £5 admin cost, and then say "sorry, there's nothing left".
Is this right, or does anybody have other ideas?0
