Cahoot Loan problems

  • I called Santander over 2 weeks ago for a settlement figure for my loan, the figure I was given was more than I expected based on the last time I accessed my cahoot account, I questioned the figure and was told they would send me a clerical settlement figure which I would have in 5-7 working days, at 7 working days I called again and was told the letter was sent but they would resend it and I should have it by Friday just gone, still waiting for the letter, I'm getting more annoyed as by the time I get this letter I will have made another payment and the figures will be wrong and I'll need to start all over again

Communication isn't their strongest point is it?

How much higher was your settlement figure than the one they're asking?

Santander haven't taken any payments since they took control of my Cahoot loan. I haven't received any letters and it costs too much to call 0845 numbers from my mobile (don't have landline at home).
With no email access to them - what am I meant to do?

Yes, just checked my bank account and they haven't taken this months payment even though the DD is active. No surprise really.

I will just wait until they write to me and keep hold of that money for the time being, if they can't be bothered to take the money, or even tell me when it's going to be taken, or even how much they are going to take, or lord forbid even send me a monthly statement as they promised, then why should I chase them up?

  • Got a statement from them yesterday, couldn't believe it, hopefully more people start getting theirs in now and Santander begin to sort this mess out!
  • Sounds like i have been one of the lucky ones, new DD set up fine, payment taken fine and statement received yesterday.

    Nah not on mine anyway.

My new DD was taken fine as well so looks like I got off lightly!

I would be careful, they did not take my DD even through it was set up when they transfered it from Cahoot and now they have reported 2 late payments on the credit file, for no fault of my own! At that is after making a manual payment and making them aware of the situation!

Mat22: Have they said whether they will remove the late payments from your credit file?

I hope you got a receipt reference when you made your manual payments. I have made two manual payments since the loan was transferred to Santander and have not set up a Direct Debit because of all these problems they've been having.

To date, I have not received one statement or notification of a late payment even though many other customers have received their statements a week or more ago.
