Looking for a cheap flight to Sydney

thetope wrote:i booked tickets at the weekend for december, going out to perth and home from cairns from www.austravel.com - i got them for £760 with cathay pacific, but the cheapest price quoted on the actual cathay pacific website was over £1200.
just to clarify, £760 was the price that i was quoted (and what i paid) over the phone from austravel, travelling out on 9th nov to perth and home on 10th december from cairns. including taxes and all that
worth mentioning i also signed up to asiamiles, a oneworld alliance airmiles type frequent flyer points thing, those cathay pacific flights plus a qantas internal from perth to sydney have netted me over 21000 points, and you only need 25,000 to get an upgrade to business class on cathay pacific between heathrow and hong kong, or as another example dublin to new york with aer lingus (which i might do next year and so those points would come in handy!)0 -

As I wrote before, the best deals are those I posted before.
My preference is for the Paris connection, as Cathay Pacific are a top airline.
That, at £995 plus £76 for the UK connection with BA. All taxes included.
Otherwise you can enquire as to whether BA will give a full refund.
If they do, the the total cost of your daughter flying BKK - LON - BKK - MEL - LON would be around £1200. Which is around the same as it will cost to fly UK to OZ and back(indirect flight).
Hope you can understand the slightly convoluted explanation.
The one way return flight is with BA but from Singapore now not Bangkok.
Plus its been paid for via a friends' credit card. Will that make it more confusing?0 -
You're confusing yourself by calling it a 'one way return flight'. One way is one way and return is 'there and back'.

You just need to check with BA to find out the conditions for cancellations. As long as you have the full ticket details, you can make enquiries about the ticket.
Why did you choose Singapore instead of Bangkok? Did you daughter decide that she wanted to travel that way?
Either way, I think it unlikely that BA would give a 100% refund anyway.
Have you bettered the £1071 for the BA/Cathay Pacific to Sydney?
It's quite a lot to watch the cricket. Can't she watch it on TV?

Sorry, I'm saying return purely because she is coming home/returning home.Donnie wrote:You're confusing yourself by calling it a 'one way return flight'. One way is one way and return is 'there and back'.

I do not have the details for the one way flight. It was booked on the internet while in Thailand, hopefully through the links you sent which I forwarded to her.0 -
I know...I was only teasing. Though I was serious about her watching it on TV.

You can obtain the details of the flight if you have the booking reference; http://www.britishairways.com/travel/managebooking/public/en_gb?prim=manabook0 -
I think the flights to Sydney mid December are a bit too expensive, maybe she shouldn't go-it will use up her life savings, thats if theres any left from her far east gap year holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a quick look ... Gulf Air will do it on your dates for £987 all in (going via Bahrain). It's another option I suppose ...
