tyres and brakes are the one thing I never skimp on purely for safety reasons. Though I always look for the best prices and always now a top make, I do check reviews as well to ensure I am getting good make since there can be so much differeneces between all of the top make ones.

Recent years have been getting them through blackcircles, have been best prices and discount codes around. They also have a mobile fitting service which means I dont have to waste time standing around at a tyre centre.

Never buy cheap tyres. I bought some WanLi tyres for an old micra and later found out why they actually call them "ditch finders". 1 wet road, 1 very mild bend, 40 MPH and then a wall was hurtling towards me. I won't buy anything thats unbranded or chinese. Pure rubbish.

I agree cheaper budget tyres are cheaper for a reason.

Good point about blackcircles I reckon they are v good all round!

If anyone is interested I got an email newsletter though from them, couple of good offers
    1. Buy 4 x Hankook tyres save £25
    2. Free mail order delivery
    3. They have now got full manufacturers servicing! and you get a £20 voucher!
Pretty good, and Hankook are premium tyres!

Blackcircles might have been the cheapest option once, but they often aren't now.

I've found that local independent tyre fitters will usually pricematch (or even beat) Blackcircles and I've discovered that it's even cheaper to buy from a discounter like Camskills (huge choice, excellent price and service) and pay a local garage to fit them.

As for tyres, I wouldn't dream of using a dirt cheap, no-name brand. I realise this is MSE, but doesn't safety come into the equation somewhere?

From my own experience, I'd suggest a medium priced tyre is usually a good compromise but which one depends on what car you have and how you drive.

However, the Japanese maker, Toyo, is a premium grade brand in many parts of the world and finally seems to be trying to make its name in the UK market. That means Toyos are extremely good value - medium price for a top quality product. I've switched to Toyo Proxes for two cars (a Mazda MX-5 and a Honda Accord) and I'm delighted with them on both. As far as I can tell, they are at least the equal of the 'premium brands' they replaced.

    Hope that's some help.

I have found that both Blackcircles and E-tyres prices can easily be beaten. My last 3 pairs of tyres, 2 from Ford RapidFit and 1 this week from TyreShopper have been well below their prices plus my 2 nearest Blackcircles fitters would not be allowed near my car.

Thats strange that a car manufacturers garage would be cheaper than online!

What kind of tyres did you get?

I have always found online tyres to be cheapest, although there is a lot of competition, I reckon Blackircles have best service and price.

Used them many a time and no issues! Bad tyre fitter?

What kind of tyres did you get?NCT5s and Firestone TZ?00s from Ford but it was a special negotiation (twice). ;) I was amazed at what discount he gave. Just got Toyos from Tyreshopper, 25hrs order to fit.

The Firestones wore out very quickly though. The NCT5s are made in South Africa !

I bet your computer is full of Chinese made parts, as well as many other items that you own.
