OK don't hold your breath for a quick outcome but PLEASE make sure you follow this through - keep to your word regarding the 14 day limit, and make sure you keep the thread updated, I'm watching with interest

I can't vouch for CEX's postal service, but I've never had any trouble with their in store service, and I'm planning on going there again, to sell more electronics and hopefully get enough credit for a Wii. I got a ridiculously generous wodge of cash for an old iPhone there.
I'm afraid I avoid the post at all costs these days when sending anything valuable, and all the 'send us your phone in a bag' companies seem like a recipe for disaster to me.
Hope you get to the bottom of it OP.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

I could be wrong but I believe CEX stores are franchise businesses, which if correct would mean that the level of customer service will vary from store to store, though pricing should be the same. I too have sold stuff to them in store without any problems but I wouldn't touch their postal scheme.0 -
sent this off today. Will keep the thread updated as soon as i hear back, but not counting on it haha!
Thank you for all your advice guys, especially Kestrel
