CEX lost my phone

Hi guys not really sure where I should have posted this but here goes.

Sent my phone to cex in January via RMSD for the added security like they advise. 3 days later I get an email saying tht my phone has still not arrived and I was in danger of losing out on the quote they gave me for my phone. I then checked via royal mail electronic proof if my item had been delay and it said it had been successfully delivered. The singnature from Cex was there aswell as the time and date.

With this in mind I emailed them telling this and provided my tracking number with the email. A week went by a no reply so I emailed again. A week and a half later and I finally get a reply asking for my tracking number!!!so I replied again giving them the tracking number etc..so we are now into february and still no further to finding out where my phone is.

On the 22 feb I emailed then asking for an update only to go through the whole process of sending details again to a girl named Andrea.she said she would forward my case and asked for my patience.great i thought were getting somewhere!

However from the 22 feb till the 18 march I have heard nothing back.I emailed on the 18th asking what's going on and as of today at 6.18 I have still nor heard anything!

Does anyone have any advice on who to contact, trading standards, the police? Totally lost as to what to do next.they have no phone number and they look like they are ignoring my emails!

Ps sorry for any bad spelling, writing this on the bus from my iPhone!

Cex once sold me an Xbox that came with a Playstation TV cable. That was back in 2004, I'm still waiting for them to send me a proper one :p

Two months is a long time. I doubt this is a police matter, so I think it's time to send a LETTER BEFORE ACTION. What does everyone else think?

How much did they quote you for the phone?

My brother had lots of problems with CEX and it seems that they are a very difficult company to communicate with.

Have you been in touch with trading standards for advice?

Haha 2004 is a long time ago!!

Yeah I thought about writing a letter to them. That may be my next step then?

They quoted me £60 for my phone that I 'sent' them.

Writing a letter is definitely the next step - letters are almost always taken more seriously than emails. Which is sad considering emails are always cheaper for both parties involved, but there you go.

Hrm, I don't think £60 is enough to go to small claims court over as I previously hinted. So listen to Kestrel, trading standards is probably the way to go (not that I've dealt with them before :p)

There are a couple of ways...

You can contact trading standards through your local (Dundee?) council.
It may be the case that you need to contact the council/trading standards department where CEX are located.

    You could also try http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/

I think that trading standards will advise you to put it all in writing to them (make sure any correspondence is sent recorded delivey) but trading standards should give you a reference number which you can quote to CEX in your letter and it will prove to CEX that you mean business, you are going down the official routes and that you're not going to be fobbed off.
