I am talking in general, not aimed at anyone specifically.
My comments are aimed more at people who don't work or don't make any attempt to support their children themselves, they just expect the government and benefits system to do all the hard work for them.
I think my post crossed with yours Liam, your comments are roughly along the same lines as mine sometimes :rotfl:Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -
I am just having a bit of a rant.:D0

I have just had another thought, when my daughter was born they introduced some sort of 1 off bonus payment which was something like £250 for children born after a certain date. We missed out on this by literally a couple of weeks or something. (just found it Health in Pregnancy Grant £190)
Now they are brining in this increase for child benefit for 1 - 2 year olds, from 2012, we will miss out again.0 -
It was from 3rd April 2009 that started. My friend had her baby on the 2nd and missed out by 1 day.0

My daughter was born 25/03/09, (her birthday tomorrow).0

Be careful, you could be left with £hundreds worse off
Will they abolish all WTC/CTC I thought that was only families with an income of £40,000? Your right though I would be left £100's worse off my vote stays were it is.0 -

And that is what this government want now, loads of people thinking like you.
This government want people to be dependent on them via benefits eg child tax credit and working tax credit.
There was a time not long ago when people were responsible and only had children if they could afford to.
My idea of CTC/WTC are that people are breeding irresponsibly knowing the more they have the more benefits they get.
I think we need a better system in place.
And there was a time before that that we had no NHS etc what a better place we live in now. I wouldn't tie everyone with the same brush though now that would be irresponsibly wouldn't it?0 -
What l don't understand is how this increase will come in to effect in 2012, when other increases such as tobbacco goes up TODAY and Alcohol on SUNDAY0

School lunches do not cost £20 per week
http://www.myschoollunch.co.uk/Leeds/parents/aboutus/
School meals currently cost £1.77 for children in years 1-4 and £1.82 for years 5 and 6.
It does differ from area to area, but nowhere near as high as £20 per week.
If your child is 6 they also get milk at school, which costs about £5 per term.
They are also allowed water if they need a drink, so no need for juice.
My childs school also do not allow any snacks, incase other children have alergies, and juice is not allowed simply because it is deemed unhealthy compared to water.
My son is 13 and he pays 60p for a slice of toast without butter at his school canteen, its 5p for the butter, it costs over £20 per week to feed him enough of the rubbish expensive fare that his school produces and hes still starving when he gets into the car at hometime so I always make him a sandwich and have a drink ready for him.
he then eats a huge evening meal at night, he growing fast and he need lots of good food and not 3 bean wraps that cost £2 from the school.0
