i agree with those who've said that center parcs deserve credit for the way they've handled this. i think their good-will offer was more than generous and shows how much they value their customers. :T

To be fair to the OP, Centre Parcs are keeping quiet about the fact that some of their parks have a major theft problem of bikes, buggies and from cars. It really is a thieves paradise especially in the car park when you know that the owners of the vehicles are likely to be a good 10-15 minutes walk away.

Thanks to sleepyhappy and those who have an ounce of sympathy. I did not come on here to be slagged off, merely for advice.

The last comment was particularly scathing, which is unnecessary. Obviously coolusername has not been to Center Parcs and cannot be the parent to young children.

I am intelligent, do have common sense and have not been influenced by advertising.
I may have been naive not to lock my pushchair (although there is nothing to which I could lock it, as there is in the outside bike park) but hindsight is a wonderful thing. It is a shame that some people are out to impact negatively on others.
I hope you are never in a similar situation.

You've been very unlucky. In your shoes, I'd be impressed with the level of service offered by Center Parcs, given that they have no actual liability. Perhaps a thank you would be in order? They have been very good to you.

What exactly was the advice you were hoping for, how to take centre parcs for a load of cash even though they're in no way liable and already have behaved quite reasonable, perhaps. rolleyes.gif

Where do you usually go? Sorry if you feel you've been "slagged off" but honestly - 'I didn't do XYZ because there wasn't a sign telling me to do it' - come on now...

As I've said in my other post, I don't tend to blame companies for my own negligence - for example I wouldn't complain to Tesco about the lack of warning signs if I mistakenly left my keys in my car's ignition.

Anyway, lesson learned I suppose - don't leave expensive possessions lying around unattended.

To be fair Center Parcs have done more than they needed, they cannot be responsible for the theft, but did give you a £60 voucher, which I think is quite generous.

As a parent with a £300 buggy, I would not risk leaving my buggy in the doorway of Tesco's whilst pushing my child around the store in the trolley, the same would apply to anywhere I go. If it were a pushbike, would you have left it unlocked?

It is no different to leaving my car in the Tesco car park, I am sure there are signs around the car park to warn me that,Tesco are not responsible for theft from my vehicle, the buggy would more likely be stolen from there, as I would store it in the Boot.

Should the buggy be stolen, along with other valuables from my car, I would not expect Tesco to be responsible, should Tesco give me a £60 voucher for my troubles, I would be extremely grateful to them for it - moreso if they went to the trouble of finding me an old buggy to use.

As sympathetic as I am to your case, unfortunately the World is full of thieving opportunists, who will be more than happy to take any items you leave unattended.

This is in no way slagging you off as the basic message is simple, look after your property and never leave anything of value, whatever it is, open to opportunists, they have no morals, and care not one jot about your situation - they just take.

:T:T:T:Twell said - this is the lesson I am attempting to drum into my teenagers - they grab and go, these opportunists and car boot sales are, IMHO, a thieves paradise to get rid of their ill gotten gains.

Even if there was nowhere to lock the buggy to a bike lock wound through the mechanism would be a deterrent, albeit a slight one.

Like people who want to claim that Center Parcs is guilty for their own negligence or misfortune?
