    Hi,
I want to make a cheesecake and have bought a big packet of digestive biscuits is it possible to freeze the unused biscuits if i crush them?

    thank you in advance
  • It should be fine, I freeze breadcrumbs and they are fine. My only suggestion would be to maybe either dry/crisp them in a warm oven before making the cheesecake in case they go soggy, or bake the base before adding the topping for the same reason.

Yes it's fine to freeze them - just don't do what I did and grab them out of the freezer thinking they were breadcrumbs and putting them all over a macaroni cheese!

Is there a reason that you want to freeze them? Biscuits will keep well for ages in an airtight box :)

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add this to the exsitng thread on what you can freeze.

  • There are a lot of people who seem to be unaware that you CAN actually re-freeze raw meat once it's been defrosted. It will affect the quality of the meat i.e. it will lose some of it's moisture but it won't have any ill-effect on your health.

My fridge has gone kaput this evening, and I have been putting things in the freezer that say 'suitable for home freezing' - but I have a gammon joint in there i brought at morrisons its 750g - and nowhere it says i can freeze it. Can i whack it in the freezer?
The opposite of what you know...is also true
