I have tried freezing stirfry mix, and although it tasted fine it wasn't very crisp. HTH!

OK thanks for that, it was going to get cooked later anyway so being a bit limp isn't too much of a problem is a sauce.

  • One alternative is to fry the leftovers briefly, and then pour egg over the top, seasoned with a little soy sauce. Makes a good frittata/omelette.

I don't think the bean sprouts will survive freezing - the other veg will probably be OK.

  • I'd freeze them, and chuck them into a stew or similar later. They won't fry well, I shouldn't think, once frozen, but they'll sill have goodness in them. Do you have stuff to hand you could make some sort of casserole with and add the veg to it now, then freeze it?
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

Got a pack of stir fry veg today (on offer) but don't think we will use the whole bag (more like half). It was so cheap considered just chucking the other half, but hate waste.
    Will it freeze?
The veg is uncooked, and appears to be various cabbages, carrots and bean sprouts.

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the Freezing Thread ;)

I am tempted to buy 2 more lamb shanks and cook them up tomorrow with the 2 I already have to eat another time.

Just bought a new slow cooker and want to try it out! It is a big one so I don't know if 2 shanks will be enough to fill it.

Is this a bad idea and is it possible?

I cook any meat and freeze it.
I'm here by myself and i think i don't have to worry about dates and things going off,
so by getting joints ; full chickens etc etc i can slice them up and wrap separate portions to go in the freezer until needed.

Thanks for that-gutted I didn't read it in time. I had to rush off to the shops before some people were coming around.

I did however get some yellow sticker bargins so it made up for it (boneless leg of pork for £1.25 and loads of very cheap veg!). I might have time to grab some before tomorrow.

Can I freeze raw pumpkin? I bought one around haloween time and have finally got round to using it, it was only a small one but it seems huge! I've just used half of it to make a batch of soup and a squash strudel but I don't want to use the other half just yet....there's only so much pumkin a girl can eat!!!

I think you need to cook it first. I bought several this year and most went into casseroles.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
