Thanks for the response and detailed information dunstonh. The A&L mortgage was via a broker, but if you're right about the one court case that did succeed on this subject then we've lost whichever way its looked at.

I kick myself for falling for this in the first place. Saying goodbye to nearly £900 hurts, but its not as serious for me as for others that have posted. I guess I had convinced myself that it would be OK to get compensation for whatever misdemenaor had been committed by A&L as they acted 'wrongly' and could afford it.....Its true though that honest people don't get conned. Deep down I knew something was not right - I had not been 'wronged' by anyone as such, until UCD/ CCGB came along anyway..... I just hope the people behind UCD/ CCGB and whatever the company name changes to next, get their comeuppance in this life or the next.

The broker commisison would be around 0.3% of the amount borrowed. So, even if you were successful, that is the amount you would be paid (assuming you paid a fee as well). it would have to be a damned big mortgage to pay more than the £895.

A&L never had any liability and didnt act wrong. If anyone paid up it would be the broker. So, the complaint is against them.

What is disgraceful is that this has been going on for years and yet no-one seems to do anything.

Sounds like one for The Money Saving expert. Surely Martin Lewis has the clout and credibility to get the profile of this raised and discussed on national radio/ TV and in the process it will help to shut off the life blood these type's of companies need to exist. Forewarned is forearmed and all that.

Too late for me, but somewhere out there today, tomorrow and the next day, another 'client' will be signing away their money. This has got to stop.

  • Useful information regarding unfair credit direct and credit compensation gb being one and the same so thanks. A little dig on the web suggests that Healthcare Fee Solutions are the same people, so if anyone is considering reclaiming care home fees, think again! Perhaps worthy of another thread??

Hope no 1 gets ripped off twice!!!
  • I bet this Healthcare Service Provider is the same people who ran UCD!!! Yet another scam in the pipeline, anyway we could claim our money back from the scum!
  • I am in shock when I read the things written above.
My family recently had letters from Unfair Credit Direct to say that they had changed to Credit Compensation GB and that everything was fine with our mortgage compensation claim, I now fear the worst.

So far we have paid them nearly £600 and we have more to make, they told me I have a money back guarantee. I saw the information about the company on television, are they allowed to do that, I thought I was safe?

I will call them tomorrow and ask for my money, can I report them to anyone if they refuse?

Can you clarlify what your claim is. We can then help you decide if you have a chance or not. However, with you saying mortgage, and it being linked to UCD then its a fair guess that you have no chance of a successful complaint and never did and you were ripped off by false claims.

The advertising standards agency have ruled against some companies on adverts. Indeed, the ASA did take action against UFD and banned their adverts. However, the most important ones to listen to is the Office of Fair Trading and the Ministry of Justice. Both of whom have said that "unfair credit" is dead in the water and is effectively a scam. The police have been taking action against some companies as well. A case made the press last week and involved a company that has been mentioned a number of times this week.

You can complain to the ministry of justice. They have an email address on their site and they do respond to emails as I have reported a few claims companies and have had personalised responses
