Myself and my wife have just found out that Unfair Credit Direct have gone bust. They have over £967 of our money, which looks now lost.
The Directors of this company have not eased my debt situation but increased it. Unfortunatly we fell for their patter in October 2009.
I say to those Directors:
Elaine G Marshall
Richard M Bennewitz
Stephen E Hume
I hope your able to live with yourself, living off other peoples misfortune.
Obviously We have contacted Ministry of Justice, but I would prefer you contact me, with an explaination and follow this up with a cheque refunding the full amount.0 -
I too fell for this in Feb, phoned them numerous times over the last 4 months & was told I had a very strong case & that it would be sorted "any day now". Was just the other night that me & Wifey to be both agreed that maybe we've been had.
I take it there is no way to get any money back?0 -
i got letter today as well, saying they are going bust from yesterday. was thinking about all those people who had been scamed. can we do anything to get our money back?????????0

The directors personal details re freely available via companies house web search, where they live etc, all directors are directors of about 6 other company's.
Just do a google search against any of their names and it brings up many company's they are invovled with.
Prehaps a word to Dom Littlewood of the BBC, and perhaps Martin Lewis himself might be interested in taking this case up as it is obviosly a growing area for scams, that these companies set up for this purpose, do not have any legal liability obligation it seems or any accountablity at all especially with the FSA, for other peoples' money.
Anyone thinking of going with these type fo people should check their limited registration, they generally only have 1 paid up share each, that is their only legal liability.
Richard Bennewitz is available on 0800 292 2016 today now.

The FSA wont be interested as these claims companies are not authorised or regulated by the FSA and don't pay towards the FSA, FOS or FSCS in anyway. (They just leech from it). The claims companies staff themselves are unqualified monkeys most of the time who cant tell the difference between home insurance and PPI. So, perhaps forcing them to be qualified would be a major step in the right direction as it would put most of them out of business.
It is surprising that most of these consumer champions have remained silent or virtually silent in an area that has to be the biggest legal "scam" going.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I received the ceased trading letter from Unfair Credit Direct today as well saying they went bust yesterday:mad::mad:
Just last week they told me my cases were almost at an end with no doubt of success and now they appear to have done a complete u turn saying due to the recent court cases they are enforceable. I consider it to be my own fault as before I found sites like this I was looking at bankruptcy but thought this was worth a try, what a fool I have been!
No credit card company has produced any valid agreements so I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens...... Back to sleepless nights and dreading the postman again...0 -

Those "recent" cases were December last year.
My bet is that they did a Cartel. i.e. took the up front money, paid the staff and directors from that and when it was obvious that there was no chance of success, rather than tell people, it basically became a pyramid scheme where the new money was being used to pay out those that complained whilst those that didnt were fobbed off with lies. Then when it fails, there is no money in the pot to pay the creditors. No credit card company has produced any valid agreements so I suppose I will just have to wait and see what happens
One hopes you didnt pay the fee to the claims company on the credit card you were trying to claim "unfair" credit on.
The chance of success on a unenforceable credit card is minuscule. Got to be low single digits. The reasons that the claims companies thought they would get away with have consistently been dismissed by the courts.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Is there anything that can be done with these people? if like me, then you had probably hit rock bottom before seeking the services of this company. They took me for £1,400. I been working 2 jobs to keep myself afloat. Whilst I have accepted that I should not have seen this company I am absolutley devated. If there is anything that can be done bout this, then please could someone let me know?
Thank you xx0 -
I'm in the same boat, I stupidly parted with £1275 last March 2009, told it would be 3 months to complete, told I would even get compensation!! Was previously in a debt management plan and was told to stop wasting my money with them. They misled us all!! It is nothing short of criminal what they have done. Like someone else has said they gave no indication as to what was happening, just kept fobbing us off saying all was well and it was only a matter of time. I've had debt collection people hounding me and I can't afford to repay, as I type I'm expecting the phone to go....
Stupid me, thought this was going to be the answer. Have they any idea what misery they have caused people?? Just wish I had listened to my wife, she said it was too good to be true!!
I have spoken to the Ministry Of Justice and basically it ain't good news, I have also spoken to the company who is dealing with the liquidation (Bridgestones who can be contacted on 0800 999 0666) It looks as if they are in the clear and they won't have to pay us back anything, I bet their directors have had a pleasant time with our money! The directors need to be tracked down and subjected to humiliation or better still prosecuted and spend time at her majesty's pleasure.
