Morning all........................((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))0 if you need one........I do.............

We have had our frist 'run in' with our landlord. He told us we could change the stove in the sitting room, originally it provided the central heating for the whole house, but when the boiler sprang a leak he disabled the boiler and installed oil fired central heating, leaving the stove in situ.

Fine but the firesurround is cira 1970 and the stove eats fuel and is too big for the room putting out about 20KW when 5kw would be ample, the whole thing juts about 4 foot into the sitting room.

We went to the trouble of getting 3 quotes for replacement, all three told us that the present installation was illegal as there was no way the stove and chimney could be swept due to the striaght run of pipe which then had a joint up into the chimney which means that soot and carbon deposits drop into the bend and could cause a house fire.

Yesterday LL told us he was not paying for the work to be done, if we wanted it then we had to pay for it......£3,000 for an installation in someone elses house...he must think I came in with the fairies.:eek: What he did say was that under duress he would take out the stove and fireplace and replace it with an electric fire.......not the same but we do not have a choice. I told him that he will have to wait to do it until we have used up the wood and coal we have.

OH challenged him about an oil bill he had given us for oil he had put in, ok fair enough but the bill was dated 11th january and we did not take over till 2nd Feb, he had kept the heating on to prevent the house from freezing.......no joy there either, he insists that we pay the whole bill. I am quite cross.....putting it mildly. The plans I had for the garden have gone on hold, I am damned if I will do anything that is going to benefit him if and when we move.

The red hot pokers will all come out and we will grass it. I am just going to keep the border under the front windows. In the back I will continue to root out the vinca but I am putting nothing in the garden that cannot be taken out and go with us later.

Enough, we are off out this morning to Motherwell, we need a stack of stuff from Wilkinsons and Motherwell is our nearest one. We have a long list of stuff we need which will make it worth the journey. I am hoping they have some trays of bedding for the baskets and pots.

Offsky, waiting for the washer to finish, going to pack up some sarnies.......see y'all later.

    Morning all!

Long time no see! Not quite sure what I've been up to really, just other stuff seems to take over sometimes!

Was a glorious sunny day when I woke up, in fact the sun woke me up which was quite nice actually, looking rather grey and windy out now, so perhaps spring isn't quite here then!

Have a ton of washing to do, and have noticed that all the skirting boards are looking rather sad, so want to get those painted soon, just need to wait till the kids are away at their dad's for the Easter weekend I think, else they're bound to give them a poke every couple of mins to just see if they're dry! Pizza and pasta bake for dinner tonight, so that can be done just before we eat, nice and simple meal!

Lunches for the kids: chicken sarnies, cheese, apples, raisins

Lunch for me: out to local pizza parlour with oh, bargain at £5 a head, and sometimes it's nice to have a treat!

Dinner: pizza with pasta bake for the kids with salad, and lemon tart to follow, I'm working so will take some soup in with me to eat later.

Hope everyone has a lovely day xx

    Good morning

Frosty start here this morning, but nice and sunny now, hope it lasts. WM on and hoovering to be done.

Jackieglasgow - I love hearing about Coco, its so nice she has you caring for her. One of our dogs is a rehome. We have had her a year next month and we have had to really work hard training her, whoever said German Shepherds are intelligent must be joking!! We couldn't let her off lead for the first 6 months as she wouldn't come back, but a year down the line we wouldn't be without her, everything seems to have fallen in place.

My DD is getting remarried in September and told me yesterday they have found the "perfect" house. The only problem is that it is about 30 miles further away from us (she lives over 150 miles away now) but I am pleased for her, hopefully now her and DGS will have a happy family life, as its been so tough for her being a single parent.

Dinner tonight will be ys pheasant breast for OH and chicken breast for me, new pots and broccoli. Cleaned out the freezer at the weekend and made a meal plan, which I'm sticking to at the moment, dont know how long for though. Did a small shop yesterday and got some stewing steak ys for 49p! I wouldn't have looked at it twice at full price (£2.59) as its a bit fattier than I would buy, but for 49p, well.

(((hugs))) to anyone in need of one (csarina)

Have you been in touch with your local Council to ask for advice re what your landlord has to do and what legislation applies to him as a landlord? I know that in England he would be obliged to do certain things, but am not sure about the Scottish systems... Down here it will probably be the Environmental Protection or Housing Enforcement team who can help.

    Good morning all.

Had a phone call from the vet who has confirmed my cat does have an over active thyroid as well as some kidney damage. Got to go and pick up some medication for her, then go back in 3 weeks for another check up. Trying to get through on the phone is murder, I know they're really busy as its a PDSA hospital, but still. :o

More washing today, bought some real cheap bedding to take away on our caravan holiday at Easter, but need to wash it first, as its all kind of hard and smells funny. Still no idea where to get the wooden pole prop thing that lifts up your washing line outside.

Also need to go Easter egg shopping for my two, or before I know it it will be Easter and they'll be none left in the shops!

Had a look on Folksy after celyn and bitsy mentioned it, there is some gorgeous stuff on there. Wish I was talented like that!

    Have a great day all.
  • JackieG – I can’t speak for the rest of the group, but I can’t get enough dog-discussion! We go to weekly training sessions too and it’s fantastic. There’s a little dog in our group who’s nervous of other dogs and tends to nip if they get too close but everybody (even the other dogs) knows his limits. He’s coming along really well and last week he did a down-stay in between my lab and another dog which was really good for him. I know it can be stressful but as Coco gets used to learning in that environment it’ll get easier and I’m sure she’ll make progress. Are you working towards anything like the KC Good Citizen Award? The scheme has proved really popular with our group and gives us something to work towards.
Mummysaver – I have to laugh at your kids poking skirting board comment. It could be worse. Apparently when I was three I saw my parents stripping the wallpaper in the hall and decided to help. In the living room. Which they’d only just finished. I’m told they weren’t best pleased!

    Morning everybody!

I started my day by tipping a chicken carcass into my slow cooker, along with carrots, parsnips and onions and lots of water. Hopefully I’ll have stock when I get in later. Then I get to sit and pick through to get all the bones out of it ::rolleyes::.

Puppy-Dog started Day Care today – I nearly cried when they picked him up! (I may be going slightly mad…) He was happy as Larry though – jumped straight in the van and didn’t look back.

Breakfast was hot cross buns (yum!), lunch will be leftover HM Chicken Korma (made with LO chicken), dinner will be either soup (depending on how the stock goes!) or fishfingers, mash and peas. Finally got ‘round to planning April’s meals so need to sort out a shopping list. Was going to do an Online order but I’m trying to run down the cupboards so I don’t need much. I’ll just send OH in after work one evening.

Still waiting to hear if our offer’s been accepted, and the official value of our house. Very frustrating as our buyers as pretty keen and I can’t even tell them how much the house will be going on the market for. Oh, the joys of shared ownership.

Have a good day all – hugs to those in need.

Morning, all - well, it is still morning for another minute according to my computer! LOL

RedRuby - I'm glad to hear the H&S are taking the situation seriously!

Hello to all the Jack Russell owners out there - ours is called Basil and he's a little love. We've also got a Saluki, called Jonty. You can just about see the pair of them in my Avatar picture there! :)

We've been into Bournemouth and done our ASDA shopping this morning. We've had to split the shopping into two instalments, Tues-Thurs shopped for today, then Fri-Tues on Friday, so as to fit it into the cash flow! It's been an expensive month.

Why is it that when you've just not got the elbow room to buy extra bits and bobs, that's exactly when your normal shop will have loads of "suitable for soup" vegetables reduced? Grrrrr! I could have made three different soups out of what was on offer, if I could have afforded it!

Better dash, I still need to write my Blog posting for the Bournemouth Echo (I write a regular blog on "the best thing I cooked this week", known as "Jenny's Week"). I don't get paid for it, but it's fun!

Hope everyone has a good day. :)

    Love
    Jenny PoshPaws
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:
