i think thats the point scotsmanth is trying to make.
:T.
I find it hard to believe that 26k mostly motorway miles has ruined a set of discs.
I have however had to replace all 4 + pads on a Nissan Almera @ 29k that was garaged for large periods of it's previous 6 years and had corroded badly.
I also think the front pads on my Astra (2007 approaching 30k) will need doing soon - however if the car had been on the motorway for that 30k then it wouldn't.0 -

the op has only owned the car for one year but the car is now 3 years old, so its been driven by someone else for the first 2 years of its life.
my focus needed pads and discs at 30k from new. i done them myself though....work permit granted!0 -

Ah yes, missed that.
I'd say it's premature wear although not unbelievable that it needs done (in the near future).
£230 though :rotfl:0 -

£50 for mintex pads, vented discs, then maybe one or two hours for fitting.
I'd never buy brake pads off ebay, it may be one of those times when it's cheap for a reason.0 -

Last time I replaced pads they were the cheapest available from a local motor factor.
Terrible things, took ages to warm up and were overall just pretty rubbish.
Next time it'll be OEM or Mintex/EBC.0 -
The last OEM I tried to get came as the "serviceline" range.
Apparently OEM actual original quality were a special order, the ones the dealer fit are a service grade. I didn't take them, I then tried Ferodo, same with them, the motor factor held the service grade, not the OEM grade. The Mintex ones I finally found were the only ones I could get that stated they were the original quality. I didn't even know a service grade existed before that. (to be fair, it was the dealer that told me, as I said I wanted OEM, so he checked that was what I really wanted)0
