Price of replacing front discs...
and also how often this needs to be done on the average car?
We have a nissan note. It is just 3 years old and during its first MOT, the advisory comment was that the front discs are slightly worn and will need replacing. The car has done 26k miles,,,, is this a normal condition, it sounds very early to me? It does a lot of motorway driving.
Its a nissan dealership who have stated this and they say that the price will be 230 quid, obviously including the front pads too (as they do them at the same time)
how does this compare?
thanks

Sounds far too short a time to me.
Have the pads been replaced before? If they are worn right down they may have damaged the discs.0 -
no, nothings ever been replaced before, we bought it last may and its service was in september with us, it mentioned about the discs then and said to check in 6 months, no one has ever mentioned the pads are worn either0

Mileage is largely irelivant.
3 years, ? yes possible, at your mileage? yes, possible. At that price, I don't think so.
Get a 2nd opinion and further quotes, you are in rip off territory,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Do it yourself, it really is a very simple job to do (litrally a few bolts then slip off/on)0

just phoned kwik fit, they will charge 230 quid for the cheaper set and then i switched off as he was telling me about the price for the dearer set. he said they wouldnt do the replacement if we bought our own discs and pads down
i have found some nissan discs and pads on the internet which would cost about 90quid0 -

Incorrect, when it comes to wear & tear on brakes, mileage IS relevant,
age is irrelevantANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0 -
It's only an advisory at this time. Forget about it unless you notice a deterioration in braking ability.
The cheap discs/pads CAN be a false economy. I had to do front discs on a vectra for 2 mot's in a row putting on cheap ones.0 -

Since when do you replace things that are only "slightly worn"? Can you see the brake disks through the wheels on your car? If so maybe you should take a picture of them so we can have a look.0
