However, I love the idea of a virtual village, with shops where consumers can click on the house and see the items for sale. Very fun and modern. A virtual world that could be expanded and developed.
I dont personally agree with the dribblers only bit. Easy for me to say cos I wont be doing the web development ! But we were all strangers when this started, we grew together, worked together, helped and supported each other. I like the idea of there being undiscovered dribblers out there who could benefit from a community spirit who could then develop their own business and then in turn promote ours to their family, facebook, bebo friends etc..
I see myself as fortunate to have discovered MSE - there are thousands of people like us who havent been that fortunate.
Does that make sense or am I a sentimental old fool?0 -
MMTWGR - I actually compmletely agree with you that I will willingly help anyone if I can without thinking what is in it for me, BUT if we are going to be doing something as a business venture then I have to look at that as what can i benefit from it. I have gained so much from the commaradary on this website and I welcome nayone else that wants to join in. I can see why it is outfacing though as there are sooo many of us now, I have been around since the start and I get confused contsantly!
I find the distinction in that we are thinking somethin away from MSE that would be a business venture of sorts, and if I was personally involved that is when I want to see benefits for me. Here I can come and go as I please but if it was a business then I would need to make time and would expect to have to put the hours in to get the rewards.
I will help anyones stand alone business in anyway but I am seeing Cagnes/Paula/Ambers ideas as a business opportunity for all of us. So, in my opinion, if someone wants to stand up and be counted as part of the business then they have to speak up. There are times when I feel like an outsider on here as friendships etc have been made but it makse me work harder at posting.....
I hope I haven't offended anyone and I am not trying to make trouble of any kind. We are all individuals and all have different ideas which is why I think in someways it is best for us all to do our own projects and utilise help, if any colaborations form then they need to be down to indiviuals....
This has taken me that long to write I bet you have all changed subject by now and probably back to merkins!!Life is a work in progress0 -
Even - that was sort of what I was thinking - maybe even along the lines of those that help set it up get theres for free but everyone else pays? cover hosting costs etc!
Liking the idea of a red light district.... as long as no actual hookers!! (other than the crocheting kind!!)Life is a work in progress0 -
Haven't caught up yet, had to rush off to meet OH and the walk killed me even though it was only five minutes away. Now I'm rushing for the game, as we are supposed to meet at 6, and haven't eaten. Got a new desk but haven't got time to build it yet...
GGAAAHHH STRESS.
Just wanted to tell you all that I love you, and I'll be back after the game. Cross your fingers that I survive!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -

It all seems to be a little cliquey and I am worried even (ir)regular posters here might be put off by the close relationships formed as it might seem as if there is no room at the inn, or if your face dont fit..... I know its not like that, but I do worry. I had 2 people email me saying they were worried about posting on our first thread because everyone seemed very close, and I encouraged them both to post - 1 is a regular now, one posted twice then ran ! But I do wander about the lurkers and what puts them off contributing.
I might need to brush up on cagne and ambers ideas before I decide I have an opinion ! Cos at the moment I am talking about something I dont understand.
In fact ignore me - I think I am overthinking things
I think whoever contributes to setting up the whole thing should have a rent free shop, anyone joining can pay small rent
Everyone could design there own shop
And as is on the high street compertition is a good thing0 -
I was going to say earlier, it's all getting a bit cliquey and it would be nice to have new people feel they can join in. I think there should be some sort of meeting hall in the middle of the 'village', which would be a forum of some kind; but what I think would be better than allowing anybody or nobody to start up a 'shop' would be if we had something you could join, which would be pretty much like this thread but more personalised, where we could help people to start their own businesses, or whatever; give help but not actually do anything for them, as the point of it would be for them to do it themselves, learn through this, and then maybe we could have some sort of committee to decide who can have a 'shop' on our site? Love the idea of the street getting darker and think it would make it more interesting and entertaining!I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0

What about a coffee shop chat room0 -
No wait scrap my idea, I like evenstar's better! Much less complicated. I also like the idea of having little characters wandering about the streets but that's just me and my overactive imagination...
ooh and there could be daytime and nighttime as appropriate and there could be christmas stuff up at christmas and ducks swimming about on a pond and lights flickering...and the houses could all look appropriate to the items or services...I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -

After a huge great big row at half 7 this morning (yep, just what I needed!), he finally spilled at what he problem has been the last few months, and guess what, its you lot! Appartently, I am never going to make any money, you lat aren't real, you are "poxy little virtual friends" that will never help me and that I am "wasting time on here, when I could be doing more important things" "like what?" well appartently "cleaning this place". Well thats put me in my place, despite the fact that even though I am raising 2 small kids and running around after him, I am expected to contribute financially as well, without using the computer, nursery or ever stopping cleaning. Oh, and now I am earning, I can pay all of the bills as he has been doing it for the last 2 years, well that must be why we are 9 months behind on them all ,and yes, I earned a whooping 32.50 this week, well thats going to go far, and him, well, he had a great week, earned £950 and BLEW IT ALL ON F**KING FISH!
Just needed to let of steam, sorry, I really am not having a good week, hope it gets better
If I come and visit and am in the flesh, does that still make me a poxy virtual friend? LOL. Why do some men and women, partners and the like have to be so greedy or self centred that they cant see the very things that are right in front of them??:mad:Paula - a lot of magazines have a website/forums attached to them for members so maybe combining a couple of ideas that have been whizzing around recently would work really well. love the village idea and have seen something a bit similar done somewhere else (around a different topic) that I remember liking at the time.

I have about a million ideas for a website just like this since we started talking about it. I can nearly see the darn thing in my mind already. I think it could be a brilliant idea or am I just missing the plot completely!
right back off to catch up!I am somebody. I am me. I like being me. And I need nobody to make me somebody! Louis L'Amour0 -
As I thought, I have got the wrong end of the stick.
I thought plans were to centralise all our businesses, so when press releases were done, or people were promoting businesses and blogs, this one central place could be refered to so everyone benefitted. Sort of like a home for all our business faces to live
However, I seemed to have missed that this will be done on a commerical level, designed to make money and generate profit from various avenues. As a proper business venture.
Of course, this is a different thing to what I was talking about !
That will serve me right for not reading cagne and amber's plans ! I will try and read up on these as I dont understand how this will work at all !VR repayment £404 £156.02 PAID
