fab news on the course.... one less thing to worry about!!moneymakestheworldgoround wrote: »I have no idea what cagne was suggesting, and I think I have lost the way with what Amber was planning.
However, I love the idea of a virtual village, with shops where consumers can click on the house and see the items for sale. Very fun and modern. A virtual world that could be expanded and developed.
I don't personally agree with the dribblers only bit. Easy for me to say cos I wont be doing the web development ! But we were all strangers when this started, we grew together, worked together, helped and supported each other. I like the idea of there being undiscovered dribblers out there who could benefit from a community spirit who could then develop their own business and then in turn promote ours to their family, facebook, bebo friends etc..
I see myself as fortunate to have discovered MSE - there are thousands of people like us who havent been that fortunate.
Does that make sense or am I a sentimental old fool?
okay...here's my viewpoint.... I am not doing anything crafty. I am looking for something to promote me and my business.
Cagenuk - great idea but I;m not sure that its for me... my customer demographic wouldn't buy... by all means go ahead but you will have to count me out...
Amber - I;m still up for the idea of an all encompassing site for us here that are following the challenge..
MMTWGR - I like the idea of the village with different shops and houses etc but I don't know where I would fit in with that... the stuff I sell (or will be once I get things sorted) is very alternative and wouldn't fit with plastic boxes, wedding invites (well, might a little with dillis after reading her interview some time ago) or wedding jewellery.... the merkins are more my customers thing (not a sex shop before you lot start!!)
I really like the idea of collaborating, I am willing to help out but it has to be for my benefit..... Sorry if sound a bit selfish but that's the way it is.... I am more than happy to help people here and offer advice etc but as far as a collaborative project, it really does need to benefit me....
Personally I think I will go with Amber as I can see this having more direct benefit to me ...unless you guys can think of how the 'village' would be good for me....

I think I understand nixinixi but I still dont think its my preference. Who is the decision maker over who constitutes regular or not? Who decides who can join, and how and when and with what products? Do we only allow 3 jewellery sellers? Is competition allowed?
It all seems to be a little cliquey and I am worried even (ir)regular posters here might be put off by the close relationships formed as it might seem as if there is no room at the inn, or if your face dont fit..... I know its not like that, but I do worry. I had 2 people email me saying they were worried about posting on our first thread because everyone seemed very close, and I encouraged them both to post - 1 is a regular now, one posted twice then ran ! But I do wander about the lurkers and what puts them off contributing.
I might need to brush up on cagne and ambers ideas before I decide I have an opinion ! Cos at the moment I am talking about something I dont understand.

I have just read mamburys post which I didnt see when writing mine.
I think I must be alone in my thoughts - I never think about what benefit I will get out of doing something. If its something I can do and it helps someone, I do it. My benefit is feeling good and that I have done something worthwhile.
But I do appreciate others sentiments and think I may just shut up now

As yoo have noticed I have no idea about websites so dont really know about the village/shop proposition and how it would work. I do think its a good idea but I do see the point of people that dont actually produce a product? perhaps we could have a office block where people like Nixi can have their office. Personally I dont think the merkins/ mamburys stuff would be a problem..you see ann summers in most towns now and I dont think it would be any stronger than that..I know I dont want to go too far down that road!
Anyhooo just me twopence worth...and I'm still bloody on here...get me outta here!0 -

Sorry
No... don't shut up or be sorry! We all have opinions.... we don't need another falling out here!!!
Sorry if I offended anyone... when I post here I am happy to help, offer opinions (plenty of them!!) and do things for people..
But I feel when it comes to something collaborative then it needs to benefit me financially if I am going to spend time working on it as time is short and very precious for me....
I hope that makes sense and clears up a little of what I wrote before...sealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0 -

I didnt mean it like that ! You havent offended me or anyone else ! And I do appreciate we all have different opinions. However I seem to be in the minority at the moment, and I have honestly admitted that I dont know what I am talking so I think it best that I just back off and digest some more information
