OS Daily Thread - Sunday 21st March

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 21st March. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning lovely OS-ers!
Flutterby honey, hope you have a great day!
Poshpaws and Joyfull -
back and welcome to the Daily thread!
Joyfull - I quite agree, the people on OS are really warm and welcoming.
sistercas - I think it will be two big deep dishes of bread pudding or maybe one bread pudding and one bread and pudding pudding.. Either way, you are very welcome!
N9eav - Hope your eye infection clears up soon, it sounds horrible.
Cranky - hope you and the house elf are OK
jc - I am sure watching your husband get hot and sweaty perked you a tad!! And good news on the driving too. Hugs hon.
Noahs - I know!! In my defence I had been to see him live a few years before and had front row seats but no, in my dream he wasn't saying an awful lot..
Oh and I love both hair clips but the second one especially.
Essex - I hope you had a great birthday hon
JackieO - continued thoughts for Big Frank
Gemma - our smoke alarm goes off so frequently when we cook that we usually yell 'Dinner is ready' when we hear it!
Julie - There is something about a man in a suit that is very sexy, and what a great bargain you got.
Nic1 - still thinking of your friend and her mum. Like you, I am tall (6ft) so shoes-wise wearing anything over about an inch made me stupidly tall! I think 3 inches was about the highest I ever owned and that was usually my long boots!
jellybaby - Well done on ringing the advisor and good luck with all that! Would love to hear how it goes.
Penpin and Halight - how are you both doing? Let us know please as we all worry about you.

Flutterby honey, hope you have a great day!

Brunch will be cold garlic bread from last night and a maltezer Easter bunny my friend bought for me yesterday.
Dinner will be cold turkey with roast potatoes and 3 veg followed by christmas pudding again.
Need to pot up my seedlings - the 'buttersquash nut' seedlings are taking over the tray!
I hope everyones Sunday is peaceful and loving. With love and light for all.

Morning peeps
the sky is just starting to lighten and its not raining (yet) :jhope that it stays dry as i`ve lots to do outside. The last time that i had planned to start my raised beds the rain began so hopefully i shall get the chance to do some work today.
The washing machine is churning away in the kitchen and the dishwasher has finished, the house smells lovely as the breadmaker has almost finished too. Chicken for dinner later then i shall see how far it will stretch. Its a rather large one which i got ages ago yellow stickered from M&S so should be lovely, i shall cook it in the remoska rather than the oven as it turns out so much nicer - hope that it will fit in the remmy :rotfl:i have visions now of mangled chicken squashed into the dish.
Only other plans for today are to get up to date with the bank statements and maybe make some twinks time permitting, it all depends on the weather and how much time i get to spend outside.
Joyfull & Posh paws :hello:
Have a lovely sunny Sunday peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Morning.
Cold morning down this way. Not much new to report. Eye feels a bit better, and I am hoping it does not get in to the other one. Work was fairly quiet and I shifted some paperwork
Church this morning, then work at 1pm... Hoping for more of the same.
Argyle lost yesterday, so that about puts them down unless there is some miracle before the end of the season...
Cheers folksNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning All!
Not raining here either, N9eav. Hope your eye continues to improve.
Church here this morning too, followed by the AGM. That's been moved from midweek to Sunday after church in the hope that more people will attend. Not sure that'll work - all AGMs seem pretty boring to me. As churchwarden I'll be there tho'!
Interview pocess for Director of Music went well the past two days - now for all the CRB checks before we can announce it. Hoped I'd be more relaxed and able to sleep, but can't get beyond 6 hours seemingly.
Due to lateness of getting home after meeting we shall be going to the local Chinese banquet today, one of those "all you can eat for £10" affairs. Always delicious. Need to get the WM on so that (if it's still dry) washing can be out before church. House needs a good tidying, because i've just been so busy out of it recently. We have someone coming in tomorrow to decorate our hall, stairs and landing. OH is a bit peeved as he reckons he could have done it, but this way it'll only take a couple of days or so, not be spead out for weeks (!) - and I really don't like him up ladders these days.
Need to get new mattress for spare bed this week - DS has stopped hinting that it's uncomfortable and is just telling me firmly that it's really not sleepable on! As it came from MIL's flat a minimum of 11 years ago, and may have been in use before FIL died 21 years ago - I think he's probably right!
Oh well, I hope you all have a good Sunday.
Take care.Resolution:

Morning all
I keep expecting to wake up fully restored to 100% fitness and its just not happening! I have always anticipated that I would be back at work tomorrow but I just can't see that happening. As well as the swishy stuff because they told me I had to stop taking the painkillers I feel like every joint I have hurts! whinge over
DH did really well at his grading yesterday and so was on a high all day - it was good to see as with finances being as they are and me being off kilter he's been a bit down. He got praise heaped on him by the head instructor and was feeling very pleased with himself.
I replaced my 6.5l slow cooker yesterday :j I'd cracked the dish in the other one and I've been lost without it! I;ve got some meat cooking in the smaller one now and when thats done I'll do a big pot of lentil and bacon soup in the big one overnight.
I have no where I need to go to day so I will do what I can around the house but I know I need to rest. I also need to pamper myself a little because quite frankly I look dreadful!
Got some cooking magazines yesterday (£5 spend on one of my MSing jobs:D) so I'm going to flick through them while DD is engrossed in cbeebies.
Have a good day everyone

Good morning guys,
It looks like a beautiful start to the day and the sun is just about to appear. We are getting the first bus at 10.15 to go up and see Eric and then we will go for a potter around Llandudno. DD and LO both need shoes again for school and I have an Evans voucher that is several years old so will call in and see if they have anything nice to wear for next week.
I let DD have a sleepover at her friends house on Friday night and when I saw 'mum' yesterday she and her friend apparently had caused chaos and kept the family awake most of the night so no more sleepovers for her for a while and she is grounded and has lost her pocket money this week. The girl's mother has a baby and a toddler and wasn't best pleased as she was having a bad day with them as they were pooped.
I have a small pile of ironing to do later and will tidy up the front garden when we get back if it is still dry. Lunch will be a cheapo one from Asda for the kids and a pasta bake ready to pop in the oven when we get back with some garlic bread.
Gentle hugs to all in need today and I hope you all have a good one.

Good morning everyone,
Love being up early on Sunday as it is lovely and quiet. Feeling good as managed to get 6 hours sleep for the first time in over a year. Insomnia is a real pain usually. I have been enjoyed a cup of tea whilst reading the boards and am planning a large cooked breakfast before heading to Mr Ts. Hopefully if I am full I won't be tempted to stray from the shopping list! I need to keep an eye on my spending for the next couple of weeks as have been pretty laid back recently. Forgot hat this month there is a council tax holiday so need to watch come April. My shopping list has been written and am looking forward to roasting chicken and baking banana bread later.MFW 91 op 2014 £410/1000

Morning everyone.
Feeling nice and chipper (despite a certain little boy coming in to see us at 5.40am ). The sun is out and it looks to be a lovely day at the moment. That being the case we are going to take the kids to the lovely park at Stratford, might pack a picnic (as we are never out the door that early
) so perhaps if the kids are good they can have an ice cream and a walk by the river afterwards.
Got my birthday money burning a hole in my purse
I want it for clothes but I want to lose some weight first so I am trying to resist the urge to spend it :rotfl:
Tea tonight will be the beef I cooked in SC yesterday. Bought a savoy cabbage to saute with it tonight yum
If I get chance I would like to do some baking. Yes I know that's at odds with my weightloss but I want to bake a lemon drizzle and then cut it up into smaller portions and freeze. That way I don't feel under pressure to eat it all before it goes off (that's my excuse I am sticking to it
)
Been reading Thriftlady's blog and it's making me wish for some free time at home to potter about
Right had better get on and have brekkie, make sandwiches and see if I can squeeze in cleaning the kitchen before we have to go.
Hugs to those that need them. Have a good Sunday OS or not.
Edited to say:
Bargainbird - we could be diet buddies! Got any tips on not eating everything in sight???? And no don't just tell me to close my eyes LOL!!!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Hello Everyone & Happy Sunday,
Thanks for the welcome. My indoor planted seeds are going mad - getting long & straggly, mmmm... Little bunny is bouncing around the house before she's sput into her outdoor hutch for the day. Off to Morrisons today to hopefully find some cheap apples as the ones in Tescos were so expensive. Off to spend day with boyfriend soon - love driving on the Sunday roads - they are pretty much empty. I've experimented with packing my freezer with used margarine tubs cleaned out & full or water/ice to maybe cut down on the electricity bills.
Sending very best wishes to all who are not feeling great either physically or mentally."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Almost forgot to share my moment of shame with you!
As we were heading out of the leisure centre yesterday I was listening to DH who was slightly in front of me as DD had wandered off towards a sweet machine so without actually looking I called her and put my hand out to the right for her to hold.....only I didn't see one of the other men from the class who walked right into my hand.
Only thing was he was quite tall and my hand had ended up at the sort of height that meant I kind of grabbed a handful of him  I was so embarrassed
DH was laughing and said 'What you like...hitting John' ....I said 'I think it was actually 'little John' I hit':o:rotfl:Climbing back on the OS wagon after a short vacation to Recklessness
