Help! I want to do this but spend a fortune every week about £150 for me 4 kids and very fussy 83yr old with alzheimers! 3 dogs, 1 cat, pet rat, canary and 2 horses (probably more if i truly work out what the horses cost) I am going to start by saving every reciept this month and seeing what i realy spend, I cook homemade meals from scratch nearly every day, and we dont eat a lot of junk so I must be able to cut down surely! well here goes, wish me luck please!Member 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4
NSD challenge not to spend anything till 2011!:rotfl:0 -
bit late for this. our month starts around the 23rd of each month. as my hubby gets paid on 23rd unless that a weekend.
i have already spent £155. both my freezers are full, both fridges are, cupboards are. so i planning to really come in under my £200 budget, for 2 adults , 2 children ( both in nappies ) and 4 cats. i still need to buy milk , bread and fruit and veg weekly. but i still should be under. i hope.
i am very pleased with myself as april and may i spent over £400 a month as i fell of the O/S wagon and all things went to pot. last month i spent £189. so getting better.0 -
Well my challenge for this month is being attacked from all side  Just got back from a weekend away to find the fridgefreezer is bust! I've had to cook what was salvagable and the engineer can't come out until Wednesday  So when/if it gets sorted out I'll have to go and do a big restock  Oh well. I was doing a storecupboard challenge until we got back today anyway, just means it's been extended by a few days :rotfl:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

I'm doing really well with my £75 challenge. So far I have spent...nothing!
This can easily achieved by hiring a man to do your bathroom and moving to your mother's. I recommend it as my meals are cooked for me and my washing and ironing get done.
I need to save all the money to pay for the extra the bathroom will cost me though....
I hope to take her and my step dad for a meal when all is done - paid for with Pigsback vouchers.0 -
Hi folks
Count me in, I did the June storecupboard challenge and in July only spent £82.03 for the whole month on grocery shopping - budget was £80. This month is not going so well I have already spent £105! but have had friends staying over two weekends.
Good news is I've got plenty of food in so shouldn't need to go to Mr Tesco too often.:D0 -
Okay.. done a shop after payday £26 of bits and pieces.. done my food shop today total £52.18 to my Grand Total is £78.18 leaving me with max £41.82 for veg and bread through the month. Should be "fine".. I hope!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092

£25.41 so far (out of estimated £75) and quite a bit of household goods in there.
Sainsbury's have 3 for 2 on Persil washing up liquid so means 3 bottles for £1.58, if anyone needs some.0 -
I'm nearing the end of my month now (19th-18th) and know I've spent over my super ambitious £50 for the month spend (okay.... I did have pretty full cupboards before I started and still have though), but I have come in well under the usual £200 and am really learning a lot this month.
Tomorrow I've set myself a challenge to see just how much meat I can get for £10 from my local butchers (I've always bought meat from supermarkets before - last week I saw how much cheaper it was to go to the local butchers)
Has anyone else found that since doing this challenge their usual Bank Account is suddenly healthy too?? I'm usually at the depths of my £200 interest free buffer by now and without conciously stopping myself from spending, I'm not even in my buffer yet...:T
April 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Following my week 1 brilliant performance of $9.95, I spent $36 in Tescos last night. This will hopefully last me the next 2 weeks as OH is away for a week from next Saturday. I'm veggie so it's easier to eat more cheaply and healthily - he's not so we have to compromise sometimes on having different meals or if I can con him into thinking it's meat when it's really Quorn etc.
Grand total so far approx $45 for the first 3 weeks of August.0
