Well, after failing last months challenge, big time, im going to have another go this month, so starting tomorrow, hoping to keep below £150!!!!0

Blimey, here goes: I'd like to join too. This is my first time on the discussion forum as a real live participant rather than a long time "lurker". I've been taking up loads of great suggestions from MSE and these have significantly assisted us to allow me to take up my extra six months of unpaid maternity leave, but now it seems the threat of redundancy is hanging over me for when I return to work in October (ain't the NHS just great....!) so the squeeze is on.
I'm going to follow the advice to guess this month and then begin whittling it down once I can see what we really spend, so will be realistic and say £250 for two adults plus a 9 month old with a good appetite!0 -
After reading here and there all through MSE the amounts people spend on groceries, I feel sort of ashamed. I spend a lot! I am controlling that now, and managing quite well, but I still feel I should be able to cut it down far more by planning better. I guess one of my faults is I buy only for one person and sometimes food goes to waste before I've used it up. Monthly shopping wouldn't do for me, since I aim to buy a lot of fresh vegs!
By the way, I think Tesco is cheaper than Sainsbury's. Oddly, when I check prices they look quite similar to me in general, but the odd week that for some reason I do my bulk shopping in S's instead of T, I have to pay a lot more!
I'll be around looking for inspiration.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
I think I'll have a crack this month. It is just me, and I reckon I normally spend at least £80.00, so will try to get under £75.000

I spend £50.00 a week for 5 adults,I have been doing the grocery challenge for a long time and seem to be managing fine.I am also buying one item a week for our christmas food cupboard, this takes the pressure off christmas a bit.0

I'm another lurker who has decided to give it a go this month ....
I have cleared the cupboards out ready .. (binned all the mouldy stuff!!) so I can see what I've got to start with. Am aiming for £100 for the month - thats for me and my three year old son.
Good luck everyone !!;)Mortgage Total: £51,801 / £75,000

tra wrote:Hi. Can I ask - do you think it is cheaper to do a monthly shop rather then weekly?
Hi tra, I suppose that it depends on how many people you are budgeting for.and if you don't have a deep freeze then weekly i would think. If your feeding more than that Monthly.20p savers club

Im going to join in with this too this month, I have been watching for a few months and trying to do it on my own, but get bored mid month so hopefully I will be able to see it through this way.
