    Can you restart your PC in safe mode? and try installing malwarebytes again?

    I can install it but it wont run, it's the same with all of them, they just don't run.

    and try the restore point from as far back a date as possible first

    then try and download combofix and run it again

    I've now got the black screen back. Tried f8- that isn't working when I press and hold, or tap it (as advised on the guide previously)

    Have also tried to restart it and it just brings the black screen back up again.

    I can only suggest at the moment that you try a few more times to get it running in safe mode.

    I'm assuming you are using Vista ???

    sometimes Pc makers change the F8 option , as the Laptop boots does it show something like "boot options" at the bottoom of the creen and something like F10 ??

    what make/model laptop ??

    Browntoa will tell you if this is possible , but I think it is ?

    If you have a memory stick you can install malwarebytes on that ( by using your laptop)
    Then try and run it on the infected pc through the memory stick .

    I am sure I have done this on a laptop myself for someone.

    EDIT

    Just be careful (scan for viruses) putting the memory stick in any other pc once you have used it on an infected one

    It's a Dell Inspiron PC with Windows 7. Probably should have said that earlier sorry.

    When I turn it on it just goes straight to the black screen with a flashing cursor. I've tried F8 when booting, and after and it doesn't bring anything different up.

    I've restarted several times and it's the same each time now.
