Hi,

It's a new PC and have had anti virus protection on throughout (3 months)
Came home today, it had restarted, brought up some random security page and listed numerous infections. It basically wants me to pay to delete them... I cannot access my normal anti virus software
It has a pop up saying spyware.IE monster activity detected
Also a messafe saying vdsldr.exe worm....trying to send credit card info over the net.

HELP!! What do I do. I've just turned it off for now as I was getting really stressed

    "Don't Panc"

Don't be tempted to pay for "removal" it could actually make things worse and empty out your credit card.

If possible download the free version of Malwarebytes install and run it, and see what nasties it turns up.

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/

That's just for starters, it may need more work to remove the problems.

Forgot to tell you to update the Malwarebytes database before you run the scan.

    Hi,

first download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ma..._anti_malware/
run the program and then go to the update tab and update the program
then do a quick scan and post the results on this thread

Can you use an other PC to download the Malwarebytes file and transfer it to your PC on a memory stick?

Just trying this, it doesn't seem to run either. It goes through the motions- but then doesn't do anything.

    rename mbam.exe to cleanmypc.com

or if you mean the mbam-setup.exe installer then rename that to qwerty.exe, the infection may be stopping it running

It has now restarted itself again to prevent damage. Brought up a blue screen message but I didn't get to write it down before it went.

I have a laptop incidentally hence why I am still on here.

It's now just a black screen with the cursor flashing

if that fails then follow this

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

    and post the log file

if the download links don't work then access the following link

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

    via

    http://hidemyass.com/

which is a proxy site and should allow you to download

you may need to rename combofix.exe to remover.exe to get it to run

can you reboot it and get into safe mode ??

    http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm

    then use system restore

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

to go back to when it was last working

then follow the malwarebytes bits above again

Well i managed to get rid of the black screen, it didn't go into safe mode, had to restart it.

I've tried to download the combofix and it wont run either. Maybe I'm not saving it right? It brought up the download instructions- I opted to save to desktop as advised and it hasn't brought up an icon on the desktop although it is in the desktop folder. When i try to run it, it tells me it may not be installed properly. I tried to rename it remover prior to saving it as well and its the same?
